    aaron_gx Builds a Ritewing Zephyr.5! (build thread)

On my Ritewing ZXL build thread:

    http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....-(build-thread)

I mentioned I was building a Mini Zephyr, or also known as the Zephyr.5

The Zephyr.5 is a cool looking little wing. I think it will end up being one of my most used planes, as it is small enough to throw into the car, doesnt take up much space. It will end up being indestructible, after the serious sparring and laminate this wing will recieve. I think the power to weight ratio is going to be impressive also.

Here is my build thread for this tiny nugget of joy!

The wing section for the Zephyr.5 is the same piece as used in the ZXL.

Cool! I got one of these little shits on the way. 2 actually. Going to build a super light weight version with a 1100 kv motor for night flying and a kick ass 1700-2200kv speedster for the day time.

Wing halves glued together. Spars in place. Held in place while glue dries with finishing nails. They seem to work excellent for this purpose.

I cut in the spar channel for the main spar a bit deeper and longer, so the main spar would actually under-lap the secondary spars, and provide a boost in strength.

Nice! I am going with a 2200kv, and I'll start with 5x5 prop. The size of this plane is so much smaller than my Skyfun and Stryker wings that I am used to.

What is the wingspan and what size battery do you think this wing will take?

Wingspan is 32", I'm going to use a 2200mah 3s. It fits decently into the stock battery bay. Haven't measured the cg yet. I will do a mock up for that soon.

Nice, very nice... I haven't talked to you in a long time, was wondering how you're liking that Zephyr. I still daydream of getting one. Also really like the mini... 32" would fit in my car really nicely and if I could FPV it the way I'd like... hmmmmmmm....

Hey rick, long time no talk! The zephyr planes are top notch. They are far more serious and rugged than anything I've ever owned. The tiny zeph is great, but keep in mind, gear will be limited. The pictures are deceiving to how small it actually is!
