Wire Source for DIY antenna, anyone sell a small quantity of wire.

Since I found that coax/SMA pigtails are relatively cheap on ebay and would be a good starting point for homebrew antenna, I thought maybe I'd try some making some. Even if not as good as commercial tuned antennae, maybe they'd be better than stock.

Anyone know where I could by some stiff wire suitable for building wheels/cloverleaf on 5.8Ghz? I guess maybe .020?

Also maybe some 30ga for crosshair down the road.

I'm kind of hoping to find a hobbyist that has a spool who'd be willing to throw a half dozen or dozen pieces 10-11" long in an envelope for a few bucks via PayPal.

I do not know where are you located but lifetime amount of mig wire is about 10-15$: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-lb-Roll-ER...item27b0166b58

If you need just few meters this is what I did - went to a garage where they repair cars and... simply asked for few meters and got it for free ;-)

Piano wire from your local hobby shop works.

You can get mig welding wire at home depot. Not sure about your specific thickness, but I bought .030 there for 2.4 antennas.

You may also try your local craft store like michaels, hobby lobby, etc. look for "memory wire" in the jewelry making section.

Where might one acquire the shielding/tubing to make antenna extensions?

i guess it'd be nice to sell "dyi kits" like ibcrazy used to sell. Its generally cheap and you save in shipping and time to find all various suppliers for different parts =p

(well, it'd be nice as long as the price is = or lower than getting all parts from ebay that is)

I have plenty, not only do I mig weld, I also make my own antennas!

If you want to meet me at Jeremy's shop in Foxboro sometime I can give you a few feet of .025 and .030 off the rolls I have.

P.S. I've got about 60 feet of RG316 if you need some of that too.
