Liking the wingtip idea... Tried to re test fly yesterday when I realized the HK speed control didn't like the 4s lipos.

Wayne: I use the simple dipoles from RMRC:

basically they come in raw form and you make them work given your application. What I find with all dipoles is the part that sticks down is the pain because on the wingtip it always is a pain on landing. You end up coming up with some form of flexible thing that is a compromise. With your wing tip I'd be inclined to make a dipole that had the active element stick up and the counterpoise running through the winglet and sticking out slightly if need be.

As for the video antenna I could see sticking a VTX in a wing tip and having a black-sheep ducky embedded in the wingtip. That would require a bigger channel in the wingtip...perhaps too big.

Your battery pack looks awesome. I've just been building lion packs myself and should be testing them soon(ish)

Give a quick sanding to the area you are going to solder especially on the neg side. I found it a real pain to solder.

    Thanks for the info.

So that is 160 mm tip to tip?

I can easily thicken the wiglets to hold a VTX or something.

I should come by some time and show you a bunch of gear. Dipoles are more like 320mm long. I have a custom dipole that might work pretty well though.

Poke a hole in the wing, run the ground element through, cut the tube and put some silicon fuel tubing on it so it will fold back on landing.
Also I believe it should be 300mm tip to tip, or 150mm each element. I had a batch tested.

That's what I do scotttu, more or less but when I take that antenna and test it at 40 or 50 mph holding my hand out my car window I find my dipole turns into a V. I've gone much farther than dual monopoles so it isn't really too bad but for the Techpod's range I'd rather not give up anything.
