    DIY headtracker

Some time ago I started to develop a headtracker, as a couple of fellow FPV-friends kept complaining about drift, bad resolution etc.

As it turned out pretty well, I figured some of you guys might be interested in the project as well.
The project have been at RCgroups for a while but I just finished the last features a few days ago.
    (Thread on rcgroups)
    http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...05&postcount=1

It's a full 3-axis gyro, accelerometer and magnetometer to avoid any drift and get a smooth movement. It's all OpenSource, cheap and easy to assemble.

A quick video from another user:

    The hardware used is:
    Arduino Nano:
    11.99$ shipped: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/nano-v3...-118037?item=8
    or:
    12.28$ shipped: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ler_Board.html

    Sensor board (9-axis IMU):
    18.30$ shipped: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/gy-85-6...arduino-148436

    33.49$ shipped: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...E:L:OC:US:3160
    or:
    29.51$ shipped: http://www.goodluckbuy.com/gy-85-sen...u-sensor-.html

    That's around 30$ hardware total.

The code and GUI can downloaded from google code:
    http://code.google.com/p/open-headtracker/

The GUI should make it very easy to setup the tracker and change necessary settings.

    The connections is pretty simple:

A headtracker ready to use, plug-n-play with FF9 (not pretty, but works like a charm)

The controller can be connected directly with USB.

    Great to hear
The feedback I have received so far have been very good, and the build should be pretty easy.

Atm the only thing that's a bit difficult is calibrating the magnetometer - but hopefully I'll have another solution for that soon

    Thanks
I'm not gonna sell the headtrackers - it will just be a DIY project
But it should be pretty easy to build and configure

    This looks great.
I don't really know anything about head trackers but will this be able to plug into the ezuhf?
If so I think I might order some parts.
    Elf.
