Hi DD, took the EZ* out today. I think the term is 'dumb thumbs' took hold again. Thankfully no damage. More time on the simulator but get bored doing that. Whill you fly during the week or W/E? Can meet and ,when you are not laughing too hard, maybe give me some pointers. Would be great to get your take on FPV as there is so much chatter in these blogs that it is almost imposible to make sense of the threads.

DD - Sure mate. I am about to add to my build log shortly. http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....-Zephyr2-build

I have the ruby all mounted now and will post some pics shortly in the build log. No problems with installing in the Z2. The only real component that you need to get out and away is the Air Speed sensor. The rest is all in close to the batter boxes.

MG, I used to fly gliders (real ones) a long time ago. The Air Speed Indicator was an important instrument. Most of the time you flew by horizon and knew whether you were normal, fast or slow flying with an occasional glance at the ASI to confirm all was right. You mentioned to DD about the Air Speed Sensor. Is the a pitot tube? It is my impression that most take the GPS speed as gospel where the reality is that there is lag and even gross inaccuracy with GPS. Driving between Gympie and Mackay demonstrated that to me quite clearely. Do you find the Pitot tube air speed reading is better than the GPS reading?

    H Drac - Yes it's a pitot tube.

The only drawback at this point is that the Airspeed sensor for Ruby is not displayed on my OSD. The EZOSD will use GPS. Ruby will use it for autonomous flight. UThere will have an OSD soon, but as it's not out yet, I am going with the EZOSD for now.

I am not worried about stalling this bird. I have many hours behind the goggles both with and without a Pitot airspeed sensor and have no fear of flying this bird without one.

MG - So many things missing, or an obtuce version being developed for the hobby market at this time. This is probably why aircraft and their systems were originally designed by the men and women who flew them - not engineers. Look forward to seeing more of your build log.

Hi guys I live in Emerald in central Queensland, I know of one guys in Rockhampton that's into fpv but only myself and another mate that have tried fpv out this way. I put my fpv gear on my eflite apprentice but was thinking of getting a glider if it has enough room to put stuff. I've been looking at hobbyking but can't make my mind up. Any suggestions?
