A fellow coworker paid $1500 off eBay to get them early, and I snapped that picture to tease you guys and make you jealous
I haven't actually seen a picture through them yet. Maybe Monday ill get to look through them viewing a computer game or something (he's a big gamer). I love the future possibilities though. They are very light, much more than I expected.

I just got to demo these goggles and they are very cool. The resolution is not impressive, the pixels are easily seen, but what is impressive is the immersion factor. I played it with a helicopter demo and it was really fun, it felt like I was a veitnam era helicopter pilot with complete freedom. The headtracking was spot on though, I turned my head around and was able to view my passenger in the back of the helicopter. It takes a while to get your "VR Legs" underneath you though (a term coined from Sea Legs, as some people could get motion sick). The focus area around the edges is blurry a bit, but not as pronounced as on my fat shark base editions, it's not distracting to me. Overall I'd say this is likely to be the future of gaming.

    From diydrones:

This system is completely digital. A laptop in the air (ed. LOL!) compresses the video from the two cameras in realtime and sends them over 802.11n (2.4 GHz) down to the laptop on the ground. Latency is around 120 ms - fully usable for flying! Range is 50-100 m using built-in wifi-cards in laptops.

Oculus Rift: HD goggles for $500?

I'm really looking forwards to trying these for gaming...

Hope the new consoles incorporate support for them.

    Cool... wholly impractical, but cool.

What are you doing that 120ms would effect the outcome that is about 1/10 of a second. Are you flying 3D next to the ground?
