My biggest drone yet, an ultralight!

Kind of a joke, but not really.

As the hobby has gotten a little harder to enjoy as I used to back in the early 2010s with my ZII and other aircraft, I've now moved on to bigger and ... well, not that much more expensive if I'm honest, pastures.

    Meet the minimax 1030R!

I bought it from some guy who was building it for 30 years and never finished. Now I'm finishing it. Those images above are when I first got it around two years ago. I'll post some current ones now.

And finally, the planned paint job.

It is made with wood and fabric ironed on to tension it. So think of it as a big rc plane! That you can ride in.

If anyone is interested, I can post more info!

Nope! I'm gonna be the first person to get her into the sky! But the aircraft was started in 1990, 4 years before I was born!

You gonna put a video system on it so your fam/friends can see your flights realtime (if you have enough gain on the ground)??

ha, at this point I have enough room for a pan-tilt mount inside the back of the plane for a high frequency yagi. Imagine the range if both sides tracked each other like that? Or I guess I could just stay low and stream from my phone.

Pretty kool way to give real-time tours of places you have permission to fly.
