whats your experience with this setup? Im about to give up on this and go with crossfire, no matter the antenna orientation it keeps giving me a crappy range
using a moxon antenna for the TX and crossfire dipoles in the RX...but still crappy range

What range are you expecting and what are you getting?
I’ve flown out 3km on the R9 Lite with 66% RSSI with the stock antennas.
BTW. I have the flex firmware and of course tried the max power output
I'm seeing some *real* FrSky QC issues at the moment. I got a couple of brand new X4R receivers that only have 200 yards of range (reflashed and tried all the obvious fixes). I also have a low-range L9R and an R9 Slim that won't even bind (yes the right software version is on it). These receivers have been tried with multiple transmitters/modules.
I had to laugh that FrSky have said they created ACCESS so that people wouldn't lose models by using FrSky-compatible gear from other manufacturers.
Yeah... right! The knock-offs are actually a safer bet right now (IMHO).
What is the frequency band you are using and in what country do you fly? For what frquency is the antenna tuned?
I thought the same thing when I first got my set up, are you using the rssi call out or read out on the transmitter? Until I read that those numbers are actually the db so every six numbers is double the distance. So the first 30 or so go bu pretty quick but from 60 to 54 should be double the distance and from 54 to 48 should be double the distance of that. Once I read that from the frsky website it made since. Are you using the original r9m? What transmitter do you have? How long have you owned the r9m and slim+
