Thread: Recommended airframe?

    Recommended airframe?

I'm fairly old pilot as I have been in this hobby for more than 10 years.

Nowadays, it's getting harder and harder to get real good airframes that aren't wings!
As I have been in this hobby for long, I really never have got to launch wings with consistencies.
So are there any "traditional" type FPV airframes that aren't too big?
    Preferably,
    1. wingspan of less than 1500mm
    2. Can be modded or has landing gears
    3. twin powerplant
A twinstar by multiplex meets all that standard but it's been discontinued for some time and it's bloody hard to get one in oriental region.
Not a fan of mini talon though.

    Any thoughts?

Hi MACgradFPV. I fly the HK Bixler - all three models (Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3). I've modded all three to twin, tractor powerplants with differential throttles and all have (taildragger) undercarriages for R.O.G capability. My personal preference is for the Mk2 as the Mk3 has a heavily undercambered airfoil and doesn't handle windy conditions as well as the older model. I'll post pix and more details, if you're interested.
    Cheers, Paul.

If you are hankering for a TwinStar, one can be found here

I don't know where you are, so I hope that is helpful.

That one with all the bells and whistles, not cheap, but, you get what you pay for.

It's about time someone made a ~1500mm twin tractor FPV plane.

The twinstar is great (I have one) but it's small inside even after you cut out all of the extra foam and the dihedral built into the wings is a bit much. Something with a mini talon sized body that's easy to launch and quiet like the twinstar would be the ticket!
