Thread: Video clarity issue...................

    Video clarity issue...................

Took the Stratosurfer up with Vector installed. Got 2 good flights with good video and OSD, but then things went south. OSD would "Jump" on the screen, vibrating back and forth. Is this an interference issue ? I'm not using any ferrite rings at this point. Wasn't sure I needed them with the good flights I had, but.................

    Video of the good flight.

Anyone else have this issue ? Thanks.

Can you post up the video of the bad flight?

Do not have any video of the "Bad Flight". Will fly again tomorrow and see if this happens again.

What would happen: I would plug in the battery and turn on monitor and I may get perfect video with OSD, or OSD jumping or even a black screen with the OSD showing. Nothing consistent...

It is hard to diagnose the problem without seeing it, something you can look at before your next attempt is the wiring. A couple of tests that I run when trying to hunt gremlins down is what I call "tap and wiggle".

Tap: as it sounds, tap all of the electronics, camera, VTx, and Vector.
Wiggle: wiggle all of the wires, connectors, and solder joints.

While doing this monitor the video feed to see if you are getting any breakups or video issues. If you are, isolate the problem area and fix it. If not, then try swapping components till the issue goes away. Good Luck!

I did as you prescribed earlier above, but could not find anything. Did try different camera, VTX, servo extensions (from camera and VTX to Vector). nothing would improve quality. I'll get video tomorrow and post.

    Thanks for your help Derrick

Think I found the problem.....Re-did the tapping and wiggling of the wires and found that the video would improve if the camera cable was held "Just right". Seeing this (No Pun intended), I found another 4 pin camera plug that fit into the Fatshark. This 4 pin camera connector was slightly smaller than the original. Could this have been the problem here ???? Anyways here's videos of before and after the camera cable was used.

    Thanks Derrick for the advice

    Before....

    After.....

    And another........

    Flight with Vector corrected:

Easy fix, once I attached the right cable to the camera.
