    Powered Glider?

I keep kicking the idea around of using a powered glider next year for my airframe for some short to medium FPV, -vs- using an airframe like the Ranger XL, Sky Hunter, etc..

The idea of catching thermals and taking advantage of the efficiency of gliders tickles my fancy. Just for giggles, I've put my 200mw VTX inside the wing, with a Trimuph 5.8 hanging underneath it.

I surprised to see how well it handled it. I'm kind of leaning toward the Radian XL glider.

Do folks use gliders to fpv, or am I heading way off in the wrong direction?

I have one of those hobbyking excalibur's that would be wicked for this.... I have not wanted to cut up the canopy to do it though.

Thanks... I'll take a peek at that model. I don't have a dedicated plane yet. I only have 1 electric, and it's a sailplane.

There's a whole thread here on FPVLAB about flying gliders FPV:
    http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....ips-and-Tricks!

I got one of these to setup FPV on but I haven't started the build yet:

There's no place I can't be / Since I found FPV / But you can't take the sky from me

Thanks Smooth... I guess I'll have to start to read through FPV's threads to see what they have, and don't... Appreciate the link BTW.

I was just talking to a friend of mine on the road. He's got the Ranger XL, which I should have bought for a bit of nothing. Now's he's going to keep it, and proceed with his FPV. When you snooze you loose... I guess.

    Good luck with yours.

I had a multiplex blizzard that I never built. I really wanted to go this route, but alas, it's in the box, in the garage of the house I pay for and my ex wife lives at.

I like to fly my ASW28 this time of year:
