Question Can you diagnose this strange flight behaviour? (video)

Video should be fairly self explanatory. The quad occasionally does some weird momentary left hand /backward roll thing which has nearly caused me to crash on several occasions. I'm certain it's not me doing it on the controls!

I thought it might be due to loss of control signal caused by flying behind trees but you can see on the last clip it occurs when I am in direct clear LOS.

A secondary weird behavior which is possibly related is that when i punch the throttle ie 75% plus the quad yaws - It'll yaw about 90 degrees to the right on say a 100ft vertical climb.

I should mention that this has behaved this way since I built it.

I'm trying to work out if it's pitching left or left AND backwards watching the video back. Feels like backwards too when i fly but can only see it rolling/ dropping to the left on the video.

Any thoughts what might be causing this or how to fault find?

I suggest you ask RoboforcerX2000, he was getting something similar in his efforts to beat the quad speed record. He was running an extreme setup though... yours looks pretty normal.

A quad that yaws or rolls on punch-out is quite often suffering from poor ESC calibration. Try recalibrating your ESCs, it may not fix the problem but at least you can then cross that off the list of possibilities.

I recalibrated them again after upgrading to Betaflight 2.8.1 and I think this may well have sorted the problem. I muust have calibrated them half a dozen times before to no avail but this time i did it from within the BLheli software so perhaps this or the FC firmware update did the trick. Only been a few flights since but the yaw on climb is definitely fixed and no sign (as yet) of the left roll\instabiity.

Thanks Bruce and keep the great channels going!
