A single stick for Dragonlink head tracker port ?

    Hi mates,

I have built an arduino headtracker for dragonlink and I got it to work perfectly.
But I'm not really happy about the whole head tracker thing and would like to make/buy a simple mini stick to glue on the backside of my radio instead. (My Dx8 does not have any channel left)

Is there something like that I could plug directly into the dragonlink tracker port and get it to control my PAN ?
Or is there a stick I could wire to my nano arduino board (witch is linked to my dragonlink TX) instead of the gyros ?

the best no-drift head tracker is a mechanical one. Take a gimbal stick out of a radio, attach it to a ballcap, use a badge-extender and attach the other end to your radio. Then wire the gimbal pots to existing knob channels in your radio. You can even put them on a switch so you don't lose those channels permanently in your radio. Here is Daemon's old development thread. If you dont have an old radio you can cannibalize then you can buy radio gimbals cheap online, like the ones for the 9x or Taranis.

since you say you don't have any channels left in your DX8, there are devices that will take pwm channels and inject them into a PPM stream.

Not exactly what you asked for but I think you could take it from here. Have fun.

I am sure that you can find these elsewhere, but here is a link to get you started.

Sounds like a cool project, be sure to post up details about it.

Thank you coming in Secretspy and Derrick,

I watched carefully your links and it's very interesting.
I will probably not put so much money in it considering i will change my radio to a Taranis when i'll be able to. And get sliders perfectly working on that purpose.

About the headtracker part, i'm already done and followed the rcgroups tuturial indeed.

Was just hoping to get my already owned ministicks into the tracker port of the DL (maybe through my arduino thingy that converts analog signal to ppm already)

My actual gyros are wired with two axis and power on this board :

I was wondering if i could wire the two axis from the stick on this board too instead of the gyro chip (separated) ?

Yes, you will just have to determine the I/O method (probably analog) and then write or modify the sketch to read the input and write the output.
