There has to be something better for FPV DVR!

After years of being underwhelmed by the DVR recording quality of my Dominator V2 DVR, and my Hobbywireless version of Japan DVR I can't believe that these are the recording standards outside of using an additional HD flight cam. The image in my goggles is soo much better! I would be happy with that level of resolution. I did some searching around and I'm considering something like this:

    http://www.alibaba.com/product-detai....39.OqH48o&s=p

It claims 1080p. Has anyone out there found better?

I feel your pain, hopefully your goggles DVR doesn't zero byte the file if you unplug power before stopping the recording like my goggles do.

And I haven't found better, I have considered an RCA to laptop video capture devices, lot of stuff to lug around though.
I have a Nexus 7 tablet, thought about something like this.

Meh... I doubt I would go that route unless I could try before I buy.

I agree with the OP, there isn't anything out there, but you just know one of those tool shops in China could churn a decent one out in a minute.

These two are quite a bit more $$$ than I would like to spend, but if they were to work....

Don't forget that there are probably millions of old SD digital video camcorders with a record function laying round in people's homes which will (despite the outdated technology) give a much better recorded image than the low-bit-rate DVRs that we're being fobbed off with today.

The miniDV cameras have a *much* higher bitrate and it should be possible to pick up a suitable camcorder (my Panasonic MX500 is great and I'll have to start using it to record video from my FPV downlink) for a song.

That's an excellent point Bruce. I've got a Sony HandyCam miniDV around here somewhere that should work. I might have to give that a try. At least then I could import the footage into a format that should be 100% Premier Pro compatible.

I never considered that as an option and I never owned a digital video camera. So are you saying that the camera will record from an external video feed instead of the internal lens?

Some camcorders will record from an external video source -- not so common these days though.
