New vid. Loving this frame. Still testing durability, but it flies like a dream anyways. 95g frame is definitely noticeable.

Dont test that durability too much .. people are cracking bottom frames by looking at them wrong on these things.

Here's some footage of my 5" RaceBlade

It flew great and handled exceptionally well around the track.

Also it held up really well against some epic crashes although I did notice some fractures in the common problem area on the bottom plate.

    QAV-R Updates from Lumenier

We've closely followed a lot of the feedback on the RaceBlade airframe and want to address it today with some big announcements.

    New Name: QAV-R

First order of business -- the RaceBlade frame is being renamed to QAV-R due to a trademark dispute we don't feel like spending a lot of time on. Easier to just change the name! The new name leverages the well established Lumenier QAV brand and tags an "R" onto it. "R" for racing!!

    Updated Main Frame Plate

Many have reported that the main frame plate is cracking in the same place during crashes -- right behind or in-front of the arms. We have now implemented a change to the main frame plate and removed the holes where the plate was likely to crack in a crash. That does not mean the main frame plate won't ever crack in a crash, but this will help a lot. We have also increased the top plate thickness from 1.5mm to 2mm, which stiffens up the entire body and will make the top plate stronger. QAV-R frames shipping as of today will include this re-designed main plate and thicker top plate. As the current main plate is lighter, we will continue to make it available as an accessory plate for those that value lightness over stiffness.

For customers that have cracked their main plate as described above, all you need to do is send customer service a picture of the cracked plate and we'll send you out a new, updated plate. Email us to support AT getfpv.com with your original order number. We will send the plate to the same address that the original frame was sent to under that order number. Sorry, but we won't be able to send the plates to different addresses besides your original order's address.

    Screws

The aluminum screws we originally included in the kit proved overall too weak to handle the forces exerted on them given the QAV-R frame design. In the end, we decided to replace the aluminum screws with black oxide steel screws. The steel screws provide the needed strength without issue. We may offer aluminum screw kits as an optional accessory in the future.

    New X Bottom Brace Accessory

We also heard feedback that some would prefer a bottom plate under the arms. Today, we are releasing a new X Bottom Brace plate as an optional accessory. It comes with longer screws to account for the additional 2mm thickness of the X Bottom Brace plate.

    New QAV-RXL

We also got feedback that for the 6" arm version of the QAV-R, it would be nice to be able to fly with 1800mah lipos, for which the current body of the frame is a bit too short when combining it with a GoPro on the nose of the frame. Today, we're happy to announce the new QAV-RXL, which comes with 6" arms and a longer main body to make room for a 1800mah lipo and a GoPro. We're extremely happy how the new XL main body turned out and think it provides a great option for those thinking of flying with a 6" set-up and larger lipo. The current 6" version with regular length body will continue to be available. And, the new XL bottom and top plates are available as spare parts, so if anyone wanted to put together a 5" set up with this longer body, it's certainly possible.

    New QuickSwap Power Distribution Board

An exciting new product for the QAV-R line and other, similarly structured airframes is Lumenier's new QuickSwap Power Distribution board. The QuickSwap PDB enables solder-less arm connections with ESC power being routed into specially designed power taps and the ESC Servo connection being made available on the side underneath the power connection. This enables you to detach both ESC power and Servo connections in seconds and without the need of a soldering iron or to take your airframe apart. It's compatible with any ESC and does not require any special connectors to be fitted to the ESCs either. Just bare power wires is all that's needed. The QuickSwap board uses the standard mounting holes used by most flight controllers. This board makes servicing of airframes such as the QAV-R a breeze. Carry a few pre-built arms and downtime from a damaged motor or burned out ESC is minimized significantly. The QuickSwap board should start to ship next week and it's available for pre-order as of today. The board has the Power Taps pre-soldered and covered. You will need to solder the pin headers for the servo connections and solder servo pig-tail cables to these headers on the other side.

What about the black textured standoffs? I see that they are up for sale on getfpv, but are they still sheering off? And are you still not including them in current frame kits?

I think you mean the aluminum screws that may have sheared off? The textured standoffs have not changed and are still included. Just the screws have switched from Aluminum to Steel.

GetFPV also sells titanium screws... I run them on all my stuff now and have never busted one.

It is never the intent to make customers beta testers. What we try to do is to address issues as fast as we learn about them. In none of our testing we had the main plate crack like it has for many customers. We feel it's better to get head of an issue than to ignore it.

I'm excited to see the new changes. Unfortunately, I was one of the ones that did see the main plate crack with a few crashes. I'll be getting the new version for sure. Psyched the Quickswap is out. Already picked a couple up. Awesome innovation.
