Simple answer yes, based on the FAA's recent interpretation of their regulations, which have yet to be legally challenged.

Hm, one of my wings is less than 250g but still my plans for the next holiday destination have suddenly shifted away from visiting the USA.
Why should I go into a country where I feel as welcomed as a criminal or a sex offender?
The last time in Europe someone forced registration on a part of the population it did not turn out too well...

From what I read... even line-control models are now drones -- since they are an unmanned aircraft system and tethered drones are still considered drones. Who's going to register their U-control stuff I wonder?

Maybe that's a sign it is time for them to take up a simpler less technical hobby.

    Per the FAA.

The fee for small unmanned aircraft registration must be submitted through the web-based registration application process. The registration system will permit the use of any credit, debit, gift or prepaid card using the Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, or Diners Club network. If none of these methods of payment are available to the small unmanned aircraft owner, that owner may register the aircraft using the existing paper-based system under 14 CFR part 47, which allows payment by check or money order.

If your favorite supplier or organization was not included in the list of comments to the FAA, you might want to ask them why did they fail to take the time to do so and consider that going forward.

Not sure where you got this list, but its not completely inclusive. I know that RMRC made a lengthy submission.

Well for some reason it's not on the FAA's report, if you can prove me incorrect, I would encourage you to do so after all it's all a public record under FOIA.

Not only was a submission made, RMRC was far more vocal than the majority of these other companies including sending mass emails and public statements.

That maybe true but it's not in the record, can you provide a link to where the FAA actually included your remarks into the decision making process?

BTW mass e-mails generally get ignored as robo lobbying.
