Question Cobra 2204/1960 or Cobra 2208/2000 on 6045 and 4S

Is there anyone out there who has tried both?

From the tests I've seen on 4S with the HQ 6045 props:

    Cobra 2204 1960kV 975 grams at 18A
    Cobra 2208 2000kV 1150 grams at 22A

What I'm really wondering is if the 2204 1960kV Cobras will just barely hit 975 grams and then start heating up, losing efficiency, and making less thrust, while the 2208 2000kV Cobras will make 1150 grams for an extended period.

I'm looking for maximum straight line speed, for at least 10 seconds.

This is on a 700 gram AUW (with 2204 motors) QAV250.
    Battery is a Lumenier 1800mah 4S 75C
    ESC's are KISS 18A (30A for 20 secs)
2204/1960kV Cobras are on there now, and it feels a tad slow.

I'm not really interested in a 3rd option - I have fast access to these 2 motors right now.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out!

The 2208s are quite a bit heaver than the 2204s, so your power-to-weight ratio will change. Also, running either of those combos through the 18A KISS is really pushing close to the edge. If you read the KISS thread on that other forum, seems like people using a similar setup are the ones ending up with fires (caps blowing/igniting).

If you're looking for serious POWER then go for the 2208s, but wait until the 30A KISS come out or try one of the SiLabs-based ESCs (like Rotorgeeks or Multicopter Builders) that come with auto-Oneshot detection. I've been running my v1.0 KISS trouble-free since they came out last year... but have kept them on 3S with SS2204s. I've got the RG 30As on my two racing birds (4S/2208-2000kv/HQ 6x45, and 5S/2208-1800kv/HQ6x45). I'd never try the 18A KISS on my fast copters...

Thanks for the insight Justin. I'll wait until the 30A 6S KISS ESC's come out to go to 2208's. I didn't realize people were burning the 18A's up. :O I'll stick with the 2204 1960's for now - it's been running strong for months. The ESC's have always come down ice cold.
What size batteries are you running on those two racing rigs?

I'm running 4S through my 2000kvs and 5S through my 1800kvs. Loving the 5S power.

Just an FYI. A Cobra 2206 is nearly ready for release. It will sit between the 2204 and 2208 About 6 more weeks is what I was told.

Anyone know the ETA on 30a KISS? Weeks? Months? A year?
