    Recommended radio?

I am starting my first FPV build and was looking for a good radio, I'd ideally like to be able to get control range up to 5km's. I was looking at spending about $100 AUD I had heard some talk on the Turnigy 9x (I think thats what it was?). I am looking for advice on which radio to get, whether the Turnigy is the right way or not.

    Cheers.

The Turnigy 9X is a great radio however, you will not get 5ks out of it in its stock from (2.4ghz)

You can get well over 5ks if you output the signal to an Ezuhf Tx and use 433mhz for your control link.

So in addition to your Turnigy 9xR you would need one of these.

And also a receiver to match...

As you can see, 5kms costs a bit of money...

The stock Frsky Taranis Plus coupled with the Lr9 receiver can get you as far as 5KM.
It can go farther than 5KM with small modifications done to the antenna.
    I'm talking around 10KM.

Now if you want LR, you can buy an EzUHF module and insert on the back....

5km would probably be about the max I would go, as I was going to be using 5.8ghz for video.

On the HK site, I have found a 9XR, but it says WITHOUT MODULE, can someone explain what this means?

If that radio doesnt have a frequency (as I suspect), would this work, (now, I know its orange and its cheap and I shouldnt trust it, but, I will likely only fly LOS with it until such a time as I can afford a TARANIS or something)

"Without the module" means that the radio does not come with a frequency/band such as the 2.4Ghz band.. You will need to buy the module separately.

Yep that's the one, you will need to buy for the radio to work.
