    Question Question about Antennas

    First:
Is it generally considered a good idea to use two identical Antennas for 2.4G?

My current Setup has a Cloverleaf Antenna on the VTx and a Linear Polarized Antenna on the RTx which works fine I guess but the Video Feed could probably be better so I'm wondering If I should get myself another Cloverleaf Antenna for the VRx as well.

    Second:
AFAIK it's best not to point with the Tx Antenna towards the Rx of the Model in order to achieve the best connection but holding the Taranis X9D naturally in your hands ( in combination with the ImmersionRC EzUHF JR Module and the SRH-771 EzUHF Tx Antenna ) pretty much does that.

The obvious choice would be to use a 90 ( ideally a 45 ) piece between the Module and the Antenna but because of the Module's location this is simply not possible.

So how does everyone else solve this problem with these particular components installed?
Put the entire Remote at an angle in your hands causing cramps?
    Point it towards the ground?
    Accept Fate?

    Thanks in Advance.

    1. Yes antenna's should match, different polarization and you will lose considerable performance.

    2. I use a 45 degree mount for my EZUHF, antenna sits nicely pretty much straight up and down. My mount is made from some folded Lexan.

Got this on my Taranis/EZUHF module/SR771 setup, downloaded it from thingverse & sent it to my friendly 3D printer place, it's designed for the Nagoya 771, but the Diamond fits snug with a small gap :http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:307113

To be honest... This was one of the solutions I kept pondering about.

I feared for something like this being the only viable solution ;(

Looking at your designs, Maybe you could come up with a better solution for yourself (and us) .

Lightbulb Got something on my mind

The Design you linked is the obvious solution but I see some space for improvement.

What's your opinion, as someone who already has it, on the following Design Ideas:

    • Antenna mounted on the Handle facing towards the back of the Remote, not away from it
    • Plug and Antenna Cable sandwiched in between during Installation
    • Recessed Screw ( round ) and Nut ( hexagonal ) holes
    • A partial Cable Guard facing away from the back

Personally I'd like to use the leftover TBS Discovery Screws which would only require the purchase of matching Nuts to get a strong grip between the two halves.

Btw, where can one get such a RF Cable?

Sounds Good, not sure what you mean by "Antenna mounted on the Handle facing towards the back of the Remote, not away from it" , I had to mount mine in that fashion as I hold (on a neckstrap) the TX flat so need the 771 @ 90 degrees to it, I like the idea of a partial cable guard also, got the RF cable on Ebay :http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2615020965...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

DOH! Just realised that your second question was about the module version of the EZUHF Tx, just get a semi rigid extension cable made SMA male to SMA female, make it just long enough to get past the handle and cable tie the feed cable to the handle. For semi rigid you don't even need a crimp tool, just the right length of RG402 and a couple of connectors and a smaller soldering iron tip, should take about three minutes to make. Or get one of these in the 4 or 6 inch length.
