Whenever I make the dual feed patch, you'll be testing that one too.

Be sure Daemon uses a cloverleaf on his plane. Last time I spoke with him he was very opposed to the idea that something could be better.

Great! I am looking forward to it, and the CL and SPW for 5.8, even though those have been thoroughly tested by other people, I am looking forward to doing a flight test with those too. (if you still have those ones you set aside for me)

Maybe I can talk some sense into Daemon, his setup is awesome so I'd like to see what he can do with your antennas.

Alex, do you have simulation results for the CP patch?

Alex, do you think the cp patch that you have given info on will out preform the cp quad?

I am about to make a compact antenna for my tracker. I was going to go with the helical, but I dont think the tilt can take the weight of it.

The cp patch seems infinitely easier to build.

Alex, when you get a moment, would you mind taking a look at my cp patch?

I not too sure how the center of the coax would attach to the front plate. Do you expose the feed from the reflector up to the back of the front plate...can i put a hole in the front plate and solder it on the front?

Also, do you see any problem with the RX being right behind the reflector? what about the way I have the SPW on the other RX...is that too close?

sorry for the load of questions.

I couldn't get it to simulate unfortunately. I can never seem to get any type of dual feed antenna to model correctly. Thus the only way I can verify (at least right now) is to test against a known performer.

No. The CP dual quad is a longer range antenna. The CP patch is also ground plane dependent just like a regular patch is. It is easier to build, but you must be precise in your cuts or it will not have circularity.

Build it like the Fast Patch antenna. Cable right through the back. Drill a small hole in the active element for the cable to come through.

Put the RX wherever you want. It makes no difference.

Alex, I have the Ansoft HFSS (inclusive Antenna Design Kit) running and could assist with simulation. So if you provide some dimensions I can draw a model.

Here is an example for a simple circular probe feed patch on FR4:
