    Hauppauge - HD PVR Rocket

Just curious if anyone is using this? Looks pretty nice for a stand alone unit. (5v input) Thoughts other than price?

I believe that unit upscales all recordings to 1080p, even from analog sources.

Nope.... I just received a used one found on Amazon and can confirm that it records 720x480 component video. Basically it's "What you see is what you get" I'm pretty impressed and will post a night vision clip from my rock crawler later on. I'm off to make a USB UBEC plug to power it off a lipo.

Thanks for the info Tim. Will it change the recorded video size/aspect ratio based on input then? That would be excellent.

Yes. I'm cooking a video now.
The raw file was 720x480. After editing, I saved it as a .MOV file 1280x720. (Data Rate 5989 - Total Bitrate 6181) Looks pretty good on my screen. Lets see how Vimeo compresses it.

Here's a clip from last night... I've mounted the Hauppauge directly on the crawler now and am splitting the signal from that into the TX. Works great!

Thanks for sharing the vids. I think I'm going to pick one of these up myself.

Is that voltage regulator you have attached to yours in the ground station pic? What input voltage does it take?

Try to find a used one... I picked this up used on Amazon.
    I'm just using a 5v UBEC.

    Hi,
I just picked one of these up at a discount and am planning out my set up. My main hurdle right now is building the cable to power the PVR. I will use a 5v BEC as well but I am unsure of what to call , and where to buy, the small square shaped USB plug for the power. Do you know what it's called? Thanks!
