Finished building my Tankito a couple weeks back but haven't gotten then chance to fly it till this weekend. Here's my first vid from the Tankito:

It's survived a few bad crashes, including a 30-40 feet fall to hard ground, and it keeps getting back up for more. Coupled with the Dalprop 6045 bullnose and I've got a pretty tough quad in my arsenal.

Glad you liked the vid Yeah, it's a great spot for creating technical race courses.

Anyway, I still need to work on tuning my PIDs. I'm on PID 2 in CF now since I keep reading lately that it's been improved, but I've been finding it difficult trying to reach that sweet spot for this quad. Lots of bounce-back on the flips and rolls that it scares me sometimes. I'm getting close to maxing my D setting too so we'll see. My PID looks kinda weird now. My P is super low - it was below 2.0 I think, super high I - well above 0.100, and about 70 for D.. If I remember them right anyway. The Tankito's not easily at hand at the moment to check the exact values.

I'll probably create a new profile with either PID 1 or 3 - I've had more success with these in the past on my other machines. Which PID controller do you guys prefer for the Tankito? I see the PID 1 recommendation on the flyingcinema website, but I'm just wondering if anyone has tried the other PID controllers.

Switched over to PID 3 now and it flies much better. Maybe I'm tuning PID 2 wrong. Oh well.

Here's a vid from this morning. Too lazy to edit so just slapped some music on it and up it goes on youtube.

Funny thing happened while I was tuning for PID 3 though. I think I set the looptime too tight or the P too high so 3 minutes into my first test flight, the tank fell to earth in a blaze of fire (actually just one ESC was up in flames, I exaggerate) - all other ESCs and the motors were too hot to touch. So I loosened both the looptime and P value a bit after that and it's just hot but still bearable to the touch. I'll probably try to loosen it a bit further, just to be on the safe side.

That was pretty good, do you care on sharing your PIDs on for that specific controller?

Sure, no problem. I guess I should share the setup this is tuned for first:
    - 4S 2250mAh 65C lipo
    - DYS BL30A ESCs (Flashed with BLHeli 14.0, oneshot enabled)
    - Cobra 2208 2000kV motors
    - DALProp 6045 bullnose
    - Naze32 with cleanflight 1.9.0
    - Stock angled arm mounts

I'm not sure if this makes a difference with the PIDs below, but this is how far up front I placed my flight controller in the Tankito. (Please excuse all the dirt. )

    Now, on to the PIDs:

RC rate is at 1.40, and looptime is at 2500. It seems to do a lot better on the heat management with these looptimes but I'm still waiting for an opportunity to stress-test these settings by going full out in an open field. Other settings are unchanged except for some expo on the transmitter side, but that's up to individual taste. Ditto for the roll/pitch/yaw rates and RC rate.

NOTE: I fully fly in rate mode these days so I didn't tune the Level PIDs for the Tankito, nor did I do anything to offset the angle of the flight controller since rate mode doesn't care about the angle of the FC so long as it's more or less level with the ground when arming.

As usual, YMMV, especially if your setup is different from mine.

I've played with PID2 but it's technically kind of broken in 1.9. I've been meaning to give it a go again in BorisB's betaflight (or even cleanflight master) since they're in 1.10 Dev, but I just haven't had the time.
Thanks for sharing the setup, always very interesting seeing what other folks end up with!
