Hey everyone,
I wanted to share the work I am doing on a new flying wing design.
I began with XFLR5 to help select the proper airfoils and determine correct reflex etc.
After I was happy with the results I made a prototype.
after many test flight and input from another test pilot. I set about to improve the low speed handling, reduce tip stalls and also improve the load handling capabilities. I increased the over all size to a 42inch WS, up from 36 inches. I increased to tip cord and added real working wing tips and a fixed LE slot to the outboard wing area.

After:
The new tips greatly reduce the wingtip vortex. This mean better efficiency, better stall characteristics and grater load carrying capability.
In order further reduce tip stall and greatly increase the CL max of the overall form. I added fixed slots to the LE of the outboard wing panel.
This helps the airfoil achieve a Cl max of ~1.2, much higher then the ~0.75 Cl max of the unmodified airfoil.
You can see the large amount of negative pressure generated by the slot at high angles of attack. This is at about a 13 deg AoA.
the blue area represents the lowest pressures.
I was inspired by the Me 163 Komet
