    Motor choice??

    Puzzled......
You can read that many forums, threads and blogs and end up more undecided on what you originally intended to search for! All the options claim longer flight times, and was leaning towards the 1000kv option but the next blog says go the 750's!

My question is simple, which motor combo 750, 900 or 1000 for maximum flight time. No acrobatics or dare devil flying, just looking to maximise air time.

    I will be running 4S 4500mah lipo, 9x5 or 10x5 props (I have both)

This is the last piece to finish my Discovery, and want to place an order by month end...

    Your input would be appreciated.
AND THIS IS NOT A BRAGGING THREAD.

900 with 10" props. I don't think you can put larger props with a 750kv on a disco.

Thanks Joop1987, TBS claim that their LR 1000kv motors will give you longer flight time over the 900kv V2, hence my lean towards these motors.

Havent heard too much on the bird dog 900kv motors, other than they are 'good motors'.

    My current quad (Turnigy TalonV2) runs 2830 800kv on 9x4.5 3-blade prop, 4S 4000Mah and flight time is 12mins.
I'm looking for flight times similiar or more than this preferably.

What weight is your Talon all up?

I have the gold bird dog 900kv motors on a TBS disco with 9x5 graupner props and my flight times are about 14 mins just hovering and about 12 mins flying.

I'm around the 1.5-1.6kg mark fully loaded...

sorry. I should say that I am using zippy compact 4s 4000mah packs

Talon weighs 1.7kgs fully loaded including FPV gear.

The gold bird dogs are discontinued so i can only assume the growlers would be more efficient????

I don't personally have the new growlers but I am willing to bet that they would be more efficient!

They are worth a go in any case as John backs his gear 100%

Ok.. So the 1000LRs from TBS will give you a little more air time, however, it comes at a cost. These motors don't have the removable prop adapter and are built light. If you crash, and bend one, you can't simply replace the prop collet. You would have to change the motor.

That said, they are an awesome motor. So are the 900V2s, and yes, so are our Growlers - And like Raz said, of you have any issues, we will fix it - no questions.

PS - 9x5s are the way to go.

    I vote for the growlers.
Have a set on one of my TBS Disco and they are as good as my T-motors.

I have been running the BirdDog 900kvs on a Disco and Disco Pro and they have been excellent, on my fully loaded Disco Pro I am getting up to 14 minutes flight time on TBS 4500mH packs.

I was waiting for your response PeteDee as i respect your views on this and many other forums. This has cemented my choice on the BD 900kv's, thanks for the confirmation.

Still keen to hear from others what motors and flight time they achieve.
