EzUHF Rx/Tx firmware upgrade procedure

Make sure the proper driver is installed and working prior to starting the firmware upgrade procedure.

***NOTE*** Both the EzUHF Tx and Rx need to be upgraded with matching, same version, firmware.

EzUHF Tx

1) Disconnect cable to radio
2) Press and hold push button on EzUHF Tx
3) Switch to high power mode (switch lever points away from antenna)
4) Plug in USB cable, wait a few seconds
5) Release push button, LED should be flashing
6) Go to ImmersionRC Tools, select the EzUHF Tx in the left column
7) Click program tab, click 'Update Firmware'
8) Point to .fw file for the EzUHF Tx
9) Wait for the firmware upgrade to complete
10) Remove USB cable
11) Reconnect EzUHF Tx to the radio
12) Proceed with upgrading the firmware on the Rx

EzUHF Rx

***NOTE*** Make sure you select the proper .fw file for the Lite and Diversity Rxs.

1) No need to disconnect cables and antenna(s)
2) Press and hold push button on EzUHF Rx
3) Plug in USB cable, wait a few seconds
4) Release push button, LED should be flashing
5) Go to ImmersionRC Tools, select the matching EzUHF Rx in the left column
6) Click program tab, click 'Update Firmware'
7) Point to .fw file for the matching EzUHF Rx
8) Wait for the firmware upgrade to complete
9) Remove USB cable
10) Rebind EzUHF Rx to the EzUHF Tx

If you need to go back to default factory settings for the Tx and Rx make sure you uncheck 'Preserve settings' in the ImmersionRC tools, do this for both the Tx and Rx during the firmware upgrade so they are also set to the same frequency band. You need to rebind and set failsafe positions after having reset to factory defaults.

EzUHF Rx/Tx driver installation

For the EzUHF there's actually two drivers, one to upgrade the firmware that puts the EzUHF Tx or Rx in a bootload mode and a second driver that turns the EzUHF Tx or Rx into a virtual com port device so settings can be altered using the ImmersionRC Tools, they both get installed into the ImmersionRC Tools installation directory upon installation of the application.

EzUHF Tx virtual com port driver installation (for use with ImmersionRC tools to change settings):

1) Disconnect cable to radio
2) Plug in USB cable, wait a few seconds
3) Go to device manager > check for unknown devices
4) Click on unknown device, install driver from installation folder of ImmersionRC tools.

EzUHF Tx firmware upgrade driver installation (to upgrade firmware):

1) Disconnect cable to radio
2) Press and hold push button on EzUHF Tx
3) Switch to high power mode (switch lever points away from antenna)
4) Plug in USB cable, wait a few seconds
5) Release push button, LED should be flashing
6) Go to device manager > check for unknown devices
7) Click on unknown device, install driver from installation folder of ImmersionRC tools.

EzUHF Rx virtual com port driver installation (for use with ImmersionRC tools to change settings):

1) No need to disconnect cables and antenna(s)
2) Plug in USB cable, wait a few seconds
3) Go to device manager > check for unknown devices
4) Click on unknown device, install driver from installation folder of ImmersionRC tools.

EzUHF Rx firmware upgrade driver installation (to upgrade firmware):

1) No need to disconnect cables and antenna(s)
2) Press and hold push button on EzUHF Rx
3) Plug in USB cable, wait a few seconds
4) Release push button, LED should be flashing
5) Go to device manager > check for unknown devices
6) Click on unknown device, install driver from installation folder of ImmersionRC tools..

If a driver has been installed but isn't working:

1) Follow above procedure (either one) for Tx or Rx
2) Go to device manager > go to Custom USB devices > ImmersionRC USB device
3) Uninstall ImmersionRC USB device
4) After completion remove device from USB cable
5) Repeat above procedure for Tx or Rx

If the driver cannot be installed be sure to turn off UAC as the driver is not digitally signed by Microsoft.

EzUHF Rx/Tx bind procedure

***NOTE*** Binding is mandatory and needs to be performed with each EzUHF Tx and Rx to teach the Tx the specifics of the radio. After each firmware upgrade rebinding is also mandatory. Using the EzUHF Tx on a different radio also requires rebinding as the Tx needs to once again learn the specifics of the radio.

EzUHF Tx

1) Connect antenna to RF output
2) Connect EzUHF Tx to radio using the supplied cable
3) Set power mode switch to low power (switch lever points towards antenna)
4) Press push button and keep pressed
5) Turn radio on
6) Keep push button pressed until EzUHF Tx starts to beep in regular intervals
7) Release push button
8) Leave radio with EzUHF Tx running and place on a desk a few meters away from the EzUHF Rx

EzUHF Rx

9) Connect antenna(s) to RF input
10) Power up EzUHF Rx
11) Push bind button within 10 seconds, hold for at least 1 second
12) Rx LED will turn off and flash 3 times after lock is made
13) When LED on Rx starts pulsating or blinking in regular intervals bind was successful (depends on radio)
14) Turn off Rx
15) Turn off Tx (in ***THIS*** order)
16) Turn on Tx
17) Turn in Rx
18) Verify proper bind, servos should respond to stick input

Notice that the behaviour of the LED on the Rx after binding and cycling power depends on the servo frame time, on Futaba radios (7C, 9C, 10C) it typically pulsates, on other radios it flickers in regular intervals or might even be lit constantly. Always verify proper servo operation to make sure bind was successful.

EzOSD firmware and font upgrade procedure
EzOSD vx.xx firmware and vx.xx font update:

***This document contains essential information about installing the vx.xx firmware and vx.xx font update for the EzOSD, please read carefully!***

The zip archive that you unpacked contains two files, if only one file (EzOSD vx.xx.fw) is present, ignore the font upgrade section:

- FontLoader_vx.xx.fw
- EzOSD vx.xx.fw

The proper procedure to install these is the following (using IRC tools). Both files need to be programmed in this order for the new vx.xx firmware to work:

Loading vx.xx font update:

1) Go to EzOSD tab on IRC tools
2) Press center button on EzOSD and keep pressed
3) Connect to USB
4) IRC tools should detect a EzOSD in program mode
5) Release center button
6) Click 'Update firmware'
7) Point to 'FontLoader_vx.xx.fw'
8) EzOSD will program
9) After completion leave connected
10) After a few seconds the LED start flashing rapidly
11) Disconnect after LED stops flashing rapidly

Loading vx.xx firmware update:

12) Go to EzOSD tab on IRC tools
13) Press center button on EzOSD and keep pressed
14) Connect to USB
15) IRC tools should detect a EzOSD in program mode
16) Release center button
17) Click 'Update firmware'
18) Point to 'EzOSD vx.xx.fw'
19) EzOSD will program
20) After completion remove EzOSD from USB and install in plane

That completes the upgrade procedure for the new fonts and vx.xx firmware.
