I was thinking that if made the outer wings detachable I could use a box half the size. Maybe this would be possible by inserting carbon tubes and then using a spar when its time to launch in the field... Has anybody attempted this before?

    Thanks!

Hi guys, are these two pieces of foam interchangeable? The piece on the left is clearly the motor mount, but I’m wondering if the piece on the right is an alternate option? It looks like it would be a stronger base for the motor. Cheers

It looks like they have changed the motor mount for the Chimera significantly since I last bought one, but I would think the one on the right is basically the same thing just with some extra foam on the bottom to serve as a skid. Personally on my Chimeras I've preferred to use metal motor mounts that I got separately.

    IBCrazy's Chimera airplane

Is that the same/similar as StoneBlue’s large motor mount?
Please forgive my ignorance as I have been out of the FPV game for a while, but is there an ideal thrust line or height/angle for the motor to sit?

That one looks the same as the stoneblue mount and was 90* but just to be sure , someone could quickly check the mount on built Chimera.

Figured I'd put this here for reference since we're talking motor mounts.

I ended up acquiring the foam from one of the early prototype Chimera's from Josh (slowjet) a few months back. Here is the mount I ended up making for it. Hope someone along the way finds it useful.

What's happened with this thread? And all the other forums? Everything seems to have died late last year...

Yup. FPVLab died and everyone moved to Facebook. I'm not a fan - I think this was the best resource around and had a really good community. But, the cool part is that if you have questions, most people still have notifications on, so you get answers. Nothing interesting to read anymore on a daily basis though because no one is ever here. RCGroups is still alive and well, but they actively work to promote it, have a team of people and it's a business for them. I don't think this was ever more than a hobby for someone. Sucks.
