    IBCrazy's Chimera airplane

After 5 months of development, I give you the Chimera. An FPV wing with a different sense of flight than you'd expect. While it is quite fast (up to 95mph), it's not a speed ship... it is an endurance plane. VanGo kept his in the air for 1.5 hours totaling a distance of 65 miles. It is also VERY maneuverable. I find myself going to low rates when obstacle dodging with it. It was never designed to obstacle dodge, but it flies at low altitude so well I just can't help myself.

    Flight video:

    Build video:

Both the PRO and Standard version come with the following:

    Airplane frame
    Laminating film
    2 tubes of adhesive
    Motor mounts
    Balsa wood elevons
    4 fiberglass spars
    Winglets
    Midwing Stabilizers (minimizes tail-wag)
    Control linkages
    Control horns

The Pro comes with these extras:

    Side by side GoPro/camera case
    Landing skids
    Servo extensions
    Speed spars

I try to be conservative on the specs. You can certainly exceed these specs on the speed, distance, and flight time, but this is what the average person should expect:

    Weight: 2kG (4.2lbs)
    Range: 50km (35 miles)
    Speed: 110km/h (75mph)
Distance: 60km (40 miles) round trip
    Batteries: 2X 3S 4000mAh Lipo

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

    What gear to use?

    Motor:

I recommend a 400-600 Watt motor. More power is fun, but anything over 700Watts is more than you need with this airplane and will reduce flight times. I personally use a 3015 - 1640kv and 8X prop. A large 1500 kV and 9X5 or 9X6 would do well also.

    Servos:

The pro has cuts for 12 gram metal gear servos (I like the Corona 939MG's, personally). However a larger servo can be beneficial such as the Hitec HS82MG. I recommend a metal gear servo as the elevons are solid wood and can strip a servo in a wreck.

I was browsing RMRC's site last night, and saw these under the "new products" category. Been looking for a wing for a long time, and was JUST about to pull the trigger on a Z2, but got yours instead

    Planned build:

    (Already have)

    2x3300 4s
    CC Edge Lite 75 ESC
    Skylark Trace IV OSD
    2.3 side feed cloverleaf
    400mw 2.3 vtx
    RMRC 5v 3a UBEC
    PZ0420 Flight Cam
    EZUHF 8ch Lite rx
    Dipole antenna

    (Need to get)

Motor: Thinking about a Hyperion 3014-12 (1132kv) I know it's past the wattage recommendations, but should still work well. Lots of power, but still under 130g weight. EDIT: There is also a 972kv version at a lower wattage...half the price. Looks pretty good
Prop: With the above motor, I'm thinking a 9x6 folder might be nice
    Prop-stop
Servos: I might have some HS82MG's laying around...

    Thoughts?

Thank you for stating the motor size as power required! This needs to be done by more manufactures of models.

    ps 1kg = 2.2lbs (hint: 2kg = 4.4lbs )

    Hi Alex,

I ordered the standard kit from Readymade today. Looks like a great wing. Could you post the motor mount dimensions? I have a few motors on the shelf that could work, but I want to make sure they aren't too big thanks!

Also I didn't see much difference between the pro and standard kit besides the linkages and the gopro mount. But then watching the build video you mentioned additional stabilizers in the pro kit!! I was sorry I didn't know about that, it's not in readymade's write up. I would have probably ordered the pro kit to get those. Although I have plenty of linkage stuff and don't use a gopro. Can I get the pro kit stabilizers seperately? Or are they included in the standard and it's just wrong in the video?

Would be keen for those stabilizers as well.. I thought they where included in that kit..
I opted for the standard mainly because I intending on using the Mobius as the Hd cam and separate flight cam.

The mid-wing stabilizers are not included in the Basic kit only in the Pro version. We will look into making them available separate from the kits in the near future as a replacement/upgrade option.

Ok thanks. Please make that difference more clear in the write up at ReadymadeRc so others don't miss out.

Awesome!! My pro should be here middle/late next week. My schedule dictates that I will have to take my time with the build, but can't wait to get started!
