Just a quick update on the camera.

I removed the wire from diode to terminal and replaced with a small smd coil from rs components

I then shrink wrapped it and soldered into position.(very roughly)

All working fine. will put it on my car to see if it passes the vibration test.

    Thanks again Martin

Put a dab of hot melt glue to hold it from vibrating. Nice job done.

    Moved per Sentry's suggestion

I made a silly mistake today when I was plugging my DL in via the module port. Plugged it in upside down and smoked some bits on the board. Can anyone help me identify the components I cooked? Also I am not sure my solder skills are up to the task, anyone want to make a repair bid?

Let me know if I need to get a better picture!

    Thanks,
    Lex

A close up of the burned spot(s) would be nice Lex. And move the cable out of the way please.

    Thanks again for your time,

These are about as close as I can get with the photobucket resizing:

I could email the originals if that would be more helpful.

Thanks for the close ups Lex. It can be repaired. Can anybody else provide a close up of the same board but unburnt? A couple of those components (transistor and rf coil)are unreadable. I can make a good guest of what they are but.......... Lex did it smoke just as you turned it on?
