Anyone have tips on mounting the gimbal? I've an idea how I'd do it but would like some other options if possible.

I've got one of those cheap gimbals too. I'm not sure if the board I have is the same as that one, there's a few different ones floating around on eBay and the like. I picked mine up from a guy on RCGroups. I've used it on a couple quads and it works pretty good. I may end up putting it on my 400Q-X at some point. Chatch said something about sending the gimbal pieces once he has them ready. As for mounting it, he's working on parts just for these frames now, there's a thread here: http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....ushless-gimbal It could give you some ideas anyway if you dont want to wait on those lol

Received my parts today and VIOLA!

Run up and tethered testing she's responding nicely. Should be able to do the maiden tomorrow. A bit unsure of where to put the vTx, real-estate is a bit non-existent in the rear with the battery in. Gimbal next week hopefully but will get her flying nicely in this configuration first.

Dude - that was quick! I'm slowly progressing with mine. Not much time atm unfortunately.

Yeah, I was home sick with the flu so I both had some spare time and was totally knackered. It took me a lot longer than I expected (because I feel awful) but I've been doing a few multi rotor projects lately so I'm pretty efficient!

It's a pretty straightforward build though and went together nicely.

Will you attach a flight-cam to the side of the gimbal like CHatch's initial plans?
I've been thinking a bit what it might be like to fly with a gimbal, I want to use head tracking to be able to look down so I guess I need a video switcher to view the go pro image to frame shots TBS Disco style, or use a flight cam on the top to keep an eye on the camera position... all sounds like a bit of a pain in the arse really, maybe I won't!

The other advantage to switching to and from the go pro output is that the go pro has a hud with handy recording information on it!
