I guess it is the first commercially available one...

In for the ride - really interested to see how CP makes a difference for quads and like the fact it's a single motor design.

my thoughts exactly. Chatch experimented with 3D by reversing the motors and modding the props to provide more thrust when run backwards. There's no commercially available props like that though, and it requires special firmware. Also not sure how the responsiveness of reversing a motor in-flight would compare to simply reversing the pitch ala Stingray style. Very interested to see how this progresses.

I'm mostly interested in the potential efficiency gain, one motor means less potential loss and less weight, depending on those servos and the drivetrain of course.. Did you weigh it?

Probably similar to comparing a heli with a motor driven tail (e.g. mCPx) and a continuous speed tail. The variable pitch/continuous speed design performs far better in general.

Very cool, I've not seen this yet. The only thing similar was using a reversible speed control to achieve the negative thrust.

I won't have time to work on the model tonight, but it occurred to me today that having the servos oriented with the output shafts in the same plane as the rotor bellcranks gives me less clearance below the rotors... I might be at risk of a blade striking a servo if I leave them like that. I'll switch to the arrangement in the instructions the next time I work on it.

There's a youtube playlist on Curtis Youngblood's web site that does a great job of showing how the model gets assembled, I'll add this link to the first post too:

This is pretty interesting. Looking forward to following your build and seeing your experiences with it.

i want to see inflight footage. From what I have seen they all seem to have a low frequency vibe to them ..

I want to see some FPV video from it too!

I haven't had a chance to work on it all week, but I expect to get back to it tomorrow night.
