    R22 COCKPIT GROUND STATION BUILD

Hi All and welcome to my build. In the coming months i hope to recycle a crashed ROBINSON R22 HELICOPTER cab and turn it into a dual control cockpit ground station.

This, As long as it will fit, Will be mounted into an old but usable dual sliding door Hiace van. How much of the cab i can use remains to be seen this sunday 27/10/13 when it arrives but as soon as i have a picture you will get to see it. I'm fairly new to FPV ( Late april this year ) but have embraced it and loving it. I AM NOT A PILOT, But a sample of what i'm up to can be seen on youtube. I crash at the end but it gives you the general idea.

Here are a couple of shots of the setup I'm already using for the Align 450 and 600n, At the time when i built this, I couldn't find anything on the net or youtube with anyone flying this way or anyone who had built something like it, I felt like i was inventing the wheel.
Since then i have found the heli chair, cyclops, and Brett who flys fixed wing and has started flying his quad in recent times. Bretts thread http://fpvlab.com/forums/showthread....struction-blog

I had a go at flying from in the van using a 50" tv and it was very uncomfortable as i only fly using goggles, This being said i think the problem was that i was to close for the size of the screen.

Learning to fly a heli fpv and in the cgs was helped along using Phoenix flight simulator 4 3D maps with cockpit view and that 50" tv/monitor via a pc, pluged into the cgs dx6 trainer port, for those that don't know.

Please feel free to make comments or any suggestion that could help improve my build and i will update things a often as i can.

I could also do with some help to research a system that will display flight telemetry on a computer screen, shown as gauges, so i can put a fascia over it and make it an operational console. After going for a fly in a R22 with a mate, I realised how important it was. It would be a great help if someone could find me some options.

    IT'S HERE....... IT'S HERE.......IT'S HERE....... YAHOOOOOOOOO......

Ok- I told you it was a bit rough and was very crashed. Well that is very true. one photo shows the floor and it's torn open in front of the seat. BUT... With some love..... A LOT OF LOVE...... LOTS AND LOTS LO LOVE, A drill, hammer, some major bashing, bog, pop rivets, and a lick of paint ( times like this i wish i was a panel beater ), It will be perfect for what i am doing. So other than getting it straight--er, I'm not planing too far ahead, so please let your imagination help me and put up your ideas.

    Love it. You're a nutter.

If there is anything I can help you out with then let me know...

By the way, a little birdy tells me that someone replaced their Naza-H GPS with an Ace One recently - I'll probably be selling the Naza-H if you're interested.

You know, with all these CGS build threads going on now it is going to be damn confusing......LMAO. I am excited to see we have three active builds on here now. I understand there might be others with serious intentions to start a build as well.

I went looking around for a suitable chair, and I've got a shopping list ready: Something that rivals Scott's seat, it'd be modular, with a cockpit layout, controls, a screen, an AV in port and a PPM out port. Will be a winter project, I'll make a thread once I get started...

Best of all, it's under 100 bucks so far!

Way to go Mick, now that's what I'm talking about. Now to watch the continual stream of updates. Lovin every bit of these cockpit builds.

Reliku, we might have to stop over at Costco and get you a similar chair as a present if you can't get ahold o one over in your area... Lol

Kickin myself good for not throwing in the passenger seat before leaving yesterday. Atleast I'll have the monitor to give some of the effects while in the back seat, while finding the best place the controls will work for the time being.
