And after getting a NOV from the FCC, learn you will and pay dearly for the lesson as well.

Half the Technician test is FCC regs, if he's memorizing the answers he's memorizing the regs. He'll probably get a card from an OO in his first year (assuming he's talking on the air), I did.

I'm not advocating taking responsibility lightly once licensed. But the FCC is fairly lenient where voice/digital comms are concerned, at least from what I've seen, but I've only been licensed since the end of '13. You have to work pretty hard to get fined, but if you do it's a whopper. Is it different for control comms?

So what do operators get N.O.V. for typically and what's a OO? I'm mostly going to be using this for RC beacons; RC control and VTx. Although, a buddy would who has been a HAM since 1962 is willing to sit down with me and practice talking on 2M.

Most common reasons are operating out of band, excessive spurious emissions (which is a major problem with FPV) and obscenity.

Isn't that a frequent problem with FPV? ;D Like every time you crash?

Ok, that's my attempt at humor for the week, I'll shut up now.
