    Smile Mobius ActionCam

    Hi guys,

Has I haven't seen a thread for it here I decided to make one.

I've been using the keychain #16 - D for several FPV platforms, including my cars, wings and micro quads.
So I was quite anxious to see what was coming with the Mobius, as the the #16 had already received several iterations in their software dedicated to FPV but as not been a camera that was designed for that purpose of course it lacked some features.

The camera is still small and light (~2x heavier than the #16) still heavier than what I was expecting it to be. But noticeable it received some attention and detail added from it's creator.

Stock camera (inc. battery & memory card)..... 39 gms.
Case with heat sink...................................... 12 gms.
    Stock battery (520 mAh 603030)................... 10 gms.
Circuit board, lens module, & memory card..... 17 gms.
Mounting base plate without screw stud.......... 7 gms.
Mounting base plate with screw stud.............. 10 gms.

The hardware was supposedly all new and it's still possible to use the PC and Android GUI to change it's settings. With the firmware containing all the neat features that previously made everyone happy. FPV users and not.

But let's go the the interesting facts, video!
It has two resolutions 720p (60fps) and 1080p (30fps) and the usual variety of possible settings for bandwidth, color tones with the added support for WDR that is quite useful for FPV.
But with these also comes my biggest disappointment... AoV... while the #16 D has a nice and wide angle the Mobius, well seems to have forgot the user base that made it famous and has a much narrow angle.
In 1080p it can be said as acceptable but in 720p it's just too narrow, as well as it seems to loose a bit of sharpness.

I've picked some of my cameras and I've compared the raw footage in different modes.

In the next days I expect to do a few more tests to it. Including trying FPV.

I have two on order, I'm curious as well, footage looks good and it would do well on a small parkflyer type of plane that won't carry a GP due to the size/weight. And yes, I'll be installing a small CMOS for FPV piloting in that case, so don't worry, I'm not abandoning my religion

A word of warning on the Mobius and specially while doing FPV and using the live video out.
When the card gets full the camera displays a big black box with the letters "Card Full" in the screen, problem is that the box almost completly
covers the image. Luckily I was using it on my RC car.
