    Suggested 72Mhz PPM Receivers?

Hey guys, I did a ground test today with my Hitec 2.4 and could only get about 3/4 of a mile with my 1280 VTX turned on. Since the EZuhf system isn't available right now, I'm thinking of picking up the spectra pro synth module for my radio and getting a 72mhz receiver. I know nothing about 72Mhz at all and need a little help.

Can you guys point me in the right direction as to which ones are decent? I'm only looking to go about a mile LOS right now.

Is this corona the way to go for a solid, 1 mile capable link?

Those little Coronas work very well! Double the antenna and you'll get a few miles out of it. The only other 72MHz receivers I've been happy with for FPV is Futaba PCM ones. (I've used a R149DP and a R319DPS) You can't beat the Corona for it's price though.

Thanks Keith, I went ahead and ordered one of those to try out. The Spectra Pro module says it will control any PPM rx, so I don't think that the PCM receivers are even an option for me. I thought I had a good one found last night until I saw that it weighed 36 grams!

I've been reading that thread...it's half he reason I posted this one. I'd be tempted to spend twice as much if there were something that had a stellar reputation.

I've got at least 20 Coronas. 2 bad ones. A simple range test will tell you everything. I have pushed mine to 5 miles bone stock.

If it is broken, fix it. if it isn't broken, I'll soon fix that.

So I finally buckled and got myself a Futaba 9c on 72.

When on a 72 radio, does it matter what brand rx you are using like it does with 2.4? (For example, you cannot operate a Futaba 2.4rx with a JR 2.4tx.) Are the Corona Rx's mentioned above considered the "standard" for 72 or do I stick to futaba rx's? Who is the best vendor for me to order some of these from (HK presumably or is there a stateside alternative)?
