Use solid carbon and make sure your connections are solid.

bsbauman: just as a different perspective... I use 2/56 rod, and I actually like how it bends when stressed instead of stressing the servos or the elevons. (If I had the good sense to limit my servos movement to a range that didn't try to pry the plane apart when I put my stick in the forward left or forward right corners... but instead I just keep things flexible.)

I like that mentality for parkflyers and fun-fly planes, but went chasing that elusive speed bug, any play in the wire can create flutter which can end poorly when traveling at high speed.

For now, I am keeping the 48" as is and I will keep it under 80mph, but I am going to have to change out my rods on the 100" wing for good measure. For the speed, I guess I can always throw FPV gear on my Sundowner 50...

See at 3:45 of this video, this is how I want to do any speed flying, where you can visibly see the stress on the main wings when doing barrel rolls or pulling up really hard

Just for future knowledge I guess, if racing was to ever occur...

    Here is an example

A planned route/race which has way points (common landmarks) spaced at 1/4 mile apart. Total track length is 2 miles

Everybody gets a google maps print out displaying the route / waypoints

Everybody should have GPS/Guidance to find these waypoints

After all this crap, can there only be three-four people in the air at once (limited by frequency?)

    900mhz, 1.3ghz, 2.4ghz, 5.8ghz?

You can have a bunch of people on 5.8 video... which is why more people planning on flying/driving FPV need to consider this freq. Foxtech and ImmersionRC both make transmitters and each manufacturer uses different frequencies which do not overlap and seem to play together. There are 8 I think on the Foxtech and 6 ch on the Immersion so you could really stack up folks using 5.8. I haven't seen realistically how many can pack in, but even spreading out every other freq you could have at least 6-7 on just that freq.

Also, in my opinion 5,8 is good for this since everyone is using a similar freq and not one person having a better pic than others... but this is less important I suppose. As long as the pilot feels good about his/her picture. But lets face it, at high speed picture quality is going to be an issue.
