Would gopro stills suffice? I dont have a machine that will lift a decent camera yet...

GoPro cams are fine. I imagine the stills mode might even be better. There would definitely be stills extraction from video at the very least...

This is the big one in the Sacramento Valley:

    Also:

Anyone else, if you want to start poking around on the web while I work on the fine points, let me know where you are and your nearest big city and I will reply with a short list of trusts for you.

There are some beautiful falls near the Glen. There is one in particular that seems to be right in the middle of a neighborhood - very unique! I think they are called the Shequaga Falls. First time I drove by I was impressed, it really is in the middle of a neighborhood. House, house, house, waterfall, house, house, house....

I drive a fastback Mazda Miata, which used to be prepared to ITA rules. These days it is closer to STL, with a big wing and fastback roof which would be quickly shunned by the SCCA. Formula Vee - super fun! They make for a pretty tight racing series, at least what I've seen in the NER. The esses at the Glen must be quite a long haul. Do you have time to take out the newspaper and flip through a few pages? That is what my Miata felt like when it was stock! Good luck!

    Hi Bob and Jim,
Thanks for the post. I will add you to the list. Bob, Massachusetts has a very active land trust community and I have longstanding contacts within it. Jim, I'm thinking that we should hook you up with Vermont Land Trust ... lots of big farm properties. I also do work for Northeast Wilderness Trust but all of their parcels are forested ... more challenging, but I'm working on forest canopy testing right now so we'll see how that goes.
    Thanks again!
