I was soo closeto bent lazy and buying a frame but nooo you had to put this idea in my head! Ahh we'll back to quads I go.
I really like the idea of coroplast but I don't think I can do it without running two braces down each side.
What is the square PVC tube normally used for? I have never seen any. I thnk I will end up using 10mm square carbon fiber tubes as arms since I already have some. Needs some more 5mm coro though.

Anyway thanks for the guide! Now to order some motors and all the other stuff. Yet another hobbyking order!

lol I hope I do see more of these quads. You don't need braces down the side as strangle enough it is damn stiff once you fold it over. The braces will just give you more weight.

I was just looking in the aluminum tube area and I came across these square tubes. I have no clue what they are used for .. I just came across them. Just remember carbon fiber love to destroy your video link ... plastic is good. You could use Alu as well, plastic just break/bends less.

Hmm. I went looking for some plastic square tube but failed to find any that was as one moulded piece. Is yours a u shaped piece with a lid?
Anyway I built one with carbon fiber to start with and man is it light! 136g lite to be exact! Now I just need motors cos I think the dt700 is bit big for this baby.
Your right in that it is surprisingly strong. I will try to get some pics up later too.

Took out my quad for a "whaka break test" Sorry some jello or blur as I flew with chipped props.

The first video the ccd camera was not set right so it took out the ground. I made me not go as low as I planned. (crashes 3 minutes in)

I now limped home (I have torn ligaments in my ankle) and got my osd for my camera. night flight but I could see the ground. Found the quads weak point and now making version 2.

I fly all batteries I have ... 2200mah - 3000mah - 3300mah and 5000mah ... 3s. The quad is light so you can throw all sort on it. With the 2200mah I get about 7-8 minutes but when I load it up with heavy gear that time comes down .... or if I go mad flying.

VERY interesting build Whaka! I've built a few boxes out of coroplast and can attest to their strength and stiffness... might have to try this

Btw, it sounds like your P gains are way too high.
