Cool, thanks.
IMO the dead horse is relevant here.
3S, 4S, 5S, 6S can all work. That is, if properly sized, kVed, ESCed, propped, wired etc. It is all a balancing game.
To get to that perfect balance takes a lot...

The bobbins on your avatar's gopros need to be a little more "supportive"?
4S - more choices in packs and probably better pricing too. Current draw can be high. KVed, Propped, ESCed and wired properly it will work.
5S - Chris' combo hits the sweet spot for efficiency and...

Since this is the smaller Drak and we may want to mount more stuff out on the wings, would it be possible to mold the wings with a central wiring channel. Similar/parallel to the spar holes but maybe...
Wonder if there is a way to make the channels at the factory after the elevons come out of the mold.
Maybe a holding fixture and a heated form that presses the channels into the elevon?
Landing gear or take-off gear?
Now that is a bench vice with attitude!

Those look like 1.0mm pitch.
Maybe micro JST or micro XH.
My 2C.
On a shoestring, Chris' method is the probably best you can get. Even a shipping rope size shoestring.
Had we Boeing and the likes' budget, we could get the numbers and mathematical models...
For half of the 12A at cruise, 4S may not be your best option since the 12A is drawn at 5S. Probably worth looking at 6S to get your Amp draw down. That is if less Amps is all you're after.
The SS motor hand launches easily and it pulls probably not more than 900 Watts.
Haven't tried it myself but this could be a consideration.
For lower kV try this although may be difficult to find.

Because he has deep balls?
Here is a gimbal that does just that.
Amen
Is this only 5S or would there be 4S and 6S available too?
Motor
Prop
Not neccesarily. It all depends on the balance and efficiency you can find between airframe, motor, prop, ESC, packs.
UPS just dropped the Drak at my door. Will look it over later.
Are you looking for Nylon or Steel?
