Hello Hugo,

I received the 3 turn helical antenna - thanks, I can't wait to use it.

Can you tell me the preferred way to mount it? Can it be in contact with a metal backing, or does it have to be wood? Do I just glue the support to the back of the antenna?

Thanks in advance,

j

You can put anything in the back.
I personnaly prefer double side foam tape, be sure to clean both Sides with alcohol.

Have fun!

I finally got to go some distance today. 1.3km out, 300m up and I got a bit of static heading away at that point. Didn't go any further but is that what you would expect with 3 turns? Or should I have held on and gone a bit further, I'm new so static gives me the willies...

It depend of what you have on the TX side, let take you have 200mW with tuned CL/windmill then you can hold it further, video will degrade progressively.

Its a 600mW IRC vTx. So from what you say I can go a lot further! :) Duo5800 on GS.

Here is my GS. All my antennas are from you Hugo. Plane has a 3 lobe one, can't recall the name.

Is the antenna separation adequate?

Antennas separation is adequate, however be sure the coax are top quality as you may loose a few db in them.

(3 lobes is WindMill)

Thanks Hugo. I'll get a that bit of video up soon. Now that I look at it, it was a pretty clear picture - I think it was just nerves!

Hugo, here is the vid. Link should start at ~2:53, if not jump there and you will see the static that worried me at the time. As I said, watching now I'm not so worried but wanted your input.

Does not worry me, the low pass you make around that barn is much more stressful on your video link and it handle like a champ!

wow, idk how all you guys get so much distance. im running the 5.8 windmill and fan on 600mw and i loose video flying over the local skatepark. it must be the basestation. i need to try that setup.

remember to have a lobe pointing to the front of your plane. it helps with the return home
