View Full Version : Getting started on the ground

I'm looking for something I can throw all my current FPV gear on and run around on those super windy days when I can't fly.. I'd like to dip my toes into the water so to speak - I know the ideal thing would be a Summit, but I don't want to spend 11ty billion dollars on something I might not like.

Bit of an oxymoron, but is there such a thing as a reasonable and cheap vehicle that I can run around on rough terrain? Bonus points if I can use my existing assortment of 3s lipos, but not completely necessary

I've been looking at the Axial Yeti (http://www.axialracing.com/products/ax90026) for the same kind of use. Other option for me would be Axial Wraith Spawn (http://www.axialracing.com/products/ax90045). Both take 3s batteries out of the box and are (at least to some extent) waterproof.

I tried to get comments about the Yeti for this kind of use in a thread below, but seems like it's not been done enough yet, cause so far no replies. Couple of things that concerns me are if the cabin of Yeti is big enough to house board cam and vtx, and if it's able to crawl slow enough for those tricky (for fpv) places. Wraith has no problems in those issues, but seems slowish if you occasionally just want to bash around in los.

Hmm, I think the Yeti is a little too fast for what I want to do. That wraith looks good!
