I am planning a flight in which I launch off a peak several hundred feet above sea level. I hope, during this flight, do so some flying closer to the land/water. I expect the GPS Altitude (I do not have the Altitude Microsensor) to read negative as I descend past my point of launch.

If RTH is enabled at this time, while altitude reads negative (ex. -150ft) will the aircraft return to altitude in order to achieve an orbit at approx +300 ft above launch point?

I ask this because, while testing RTH in simulator on the ground, the altitude, if displayed as negative (ex. -10ft), will not change, will not ascend until i manually climb into positive altitude.

Any insight is much appreciated.
