Hey Chatch -

So yesterday after my last flight my quad landed missing a landing gear. I noticed the new gemfans induced a lot of vibes, but didn't think screws would back out so soon. If I order the landing gear set from you, does that come with the metal hardware that receives the landing gear screws inside the Gaui arms? Those fell out, too.

Gemfans induced vibration?

Mine reduced every so slightly.

Yes. It's very audible.

did you already order? sorry i didn't check to see if there are new threads. i can throw in the metal gaui spacers for free. how many do you need?

tighten your screws until they strip. press very firmly on the screwdriver and tighten as hard as you can. the screw head will strip before the threads. you can remove the screw still after stripping one way. i usually put 100 screws(55-60 needed) in each gaui frame kit so you can replace screws as you go. they are M3-0.5x8mm stainless by the way.

on my gaui builds i additionally put CA on the threads. to remove these screws apply a dremel with cutting disc to the screw head and cut halfway in. the heat will cause the screw to instantly loosen and you can remove it easily.

G10/FR4 is fire resistant by design so you do not have to worry about damaging parts with heat.

Thanks Chatch - yeah I ordered over the weekend. It's prob your only order from Tallahassee. I added blue loctite to my screws after the loss.

Edit: lost 2 spacers with the landing gear.

Just wanted to post that, as always, Chatch came through on the extra spacers - no charge!

However, sadly, I have had to take off the GemFans. I loved how they handled, but the sounds and vibrations were atrocious. It really was painful to listen to flying through the air. Sounded like a weed eater, no joke.

Wow, I've had great luck with the Gemfans. Best balanced props I've owned (Granted, i've never flown Graupners) 4 out of 5 come perfectly balanced from the package, and the 5th might need a glancing dusting of lacquer to balance it. What size are you using?

8" slowfly. They are balanced, don't get me wrong about that. Maybe I'll make a video this week with some fly-bys so you can hear the difference.

i use gemfan carbon/nylon mix but the balance is horrible ,the hubs are the worst ,always need alot of balancing at the hub .but once done they are fine .
