View Full Version : NEW CSFPV MISSION Contest! Biggest yet!

chicken sashimi
30th June 2013, 01:00 AM
ChickenSashimiFPV, Global Leader in FPV-Centric Apparel and Accessories is at it again with our biggest FPV Contest yet!

This time around we've got an easy challenge and one hell of a prize!

CSFPV Vertical Dive Contest!

The mission is simple: Show us a video of your best Vertical Dive!

Things we like to see: Unique or multiple camera angles, interesting locations, skyhigh starts, low altitude finish, insane speeds, aerobatics, cliff diving, formation diving, etc. Pretty much anything that adds interest, complexity or risk to help your video stand out!

Head on over to CSFPV Contests (http://chickensashimi.com/contests.html) to view entries and scope out the competition.

When you are ready, submit as many entries as you'd like by uploading your videos to youtube or vimeo with the title: "yourname - ChickenSashimiFPV Dive Contest Submission"
Post your submissions in this thread or on the CSFPV facebook page and we'll add it to the submission catalog.

You have until the end of August 2013 to complete the mission and submit your videos. That gives you the whole summer to create one hell of a dive so you can win one hell of a prize!

CSFPV officials will decide on the winners.

The winner will receive a Ritewing ZephyrII Kit graciously donated by Chris Klick of RitewingRC (http://www.ritewingrc.com) and their choice of ChickenSashimi ZII Airframe Decal Set!

One runner up will recieve a CSFPV T-Shirt and Mug Prizepack!

Indeed.. I've got a retired old parkzone wildcat that I may equip and drive into the ground.... erm... intentionally.

Maybe get two quads to suspend a hula hoop horizontally, then dive a plane through said hoop. No problemo. hehehe

This was from this afternoon as a heavy 4s gens ace 3800 mah came loose in the bay and sent me into an unintentional fall. For a penguin it was hauling ass. I'm surprised the wings didn't get ripped off. I flicked a switch and increased the control surface movement to maximum and fortunately got it settled down.

renamed an exisitng video as there's no way i fly this high any more!!

go to 4:40 for the dive from 2680m/8800'

For a "glider" rig, you really can't beat it. Could not be happier with this air frame. Hoping you buy it, love it and then get inspired to make some decals for the wings in your shop. :)

Wow man! That is a terrifyingly beautiful view Mike!

At first when you dove in, I didn't realize you were fastforwarding the video.. I was like "HOLY SHIT THAT'S FAST.... oh"

Crazy height and amazing sights!

I'll add it to the list. :)
btw.. what OSD is that? It's nice and clean.

That's the plan! I'm eagerly waiting for Tim to get back from his 4th of July vacay so I can set up my order and get my build started.
Can't wait to start dressing it up with awesome decals.

Here's my entry. Things didn't go quite as planned...

My plan was to do a vertical dive into a net at high speed. Hitting the pole wasn't part of the plan...
Note that the guy under the net (Gravity Thief, in need of clean underpants) was safe even though it didn't look like it. The net is made from thick nylon and is very secure.
All the electronics survived but the wing itself is wrecked. Still, it was good for a laugh!

Oh man, that would have been an epic dive! damn soccer nets getting in the way. You will definatly be one of the top contenders for the best crash!

Here's a quick test just to see how my 2M "Super Raptor" holds up in a dive... I was worried about wing flap, but the laminated EPO is nice and stiff! My DVR didn't record :/ But i remember a max altitude around 4750' AGL, and a top speed just over 100mph. I think this platform is capable of climbing over 10,000 AGL in the right conditions :)

CFM, that was sick. There was a bit of flapping going on .. kudos to you for flying through it.. I'm not sure If I would have been able to keep diving if I saw any flutter. I would have chickened out. hehe.

You can do it by just an FPV/camera bombdrop? No need to sacrifice a plane for that :)

Or is that not allowed? This way multirotor pilots can compete too. A bit easier i admit.

Even if not allowed, i am going to try it out with a keychain camera in a foam bomb just to see how that goes!

I don't see any reason why Multirotor pilots can't already compete? A dive is a dive be it fixed wing or otherwise.
A dumb bomb with a camera attached is hardly "FPV" in the traditional sense.

A guided "bomb" with a camera and control surfaces.. well.. that's not very different from an FPV aircraft in it's own right, correct?

My previous contests had rules and guidelines and all kinds of specifics to adhere to and they didn't draw a lot of participation. For this one, I'm trying to be a bit more hands off in hopes of spurring more submissions. A massive prize helps as well, but the point is to have fun and make a cool dive video. If you've just got a video of a camera falling down to earth, then it's probably not going to look remarkable. It's mostly about having fun and making an exciting video! All the submissions are going to be pitted against each other on my contest page (http://chickensashimi.com/contests), so i'd be more concerned about making something unique that stands out against the other submissions.

wtf! that 2200mah 3s is fking tiny! No wonder everything fits.
my zippy 2200's are fatasses by comparison! Nice build man.. wow.. neat wiring.

what size prop?

PabloJaime
10th July 2013, 02:35 PM
the EzOSD cables are custom made, and the prop is a 7X5, but also fly with 6x4 (more speedy).

chicken sashimi
10th July 2013, 02:41 PM
The 7x5 is more torque?

I usually fly the 6x4.5 but i'm building a miniZ with a gopro.. it's going to be heavy.. I'm wondering if i'll need a 7x5 to get better performance out of the heavier plane?

PabloJaime
10th July 2013, 03:06 PM
I feel with 6X4 is faster but also more hysteric flights, with the 7X5 is a bit slower, but much more confident with winds and also on the launch you can feel the difference in props, but yeap 7X5 will give you more power or push force.. any way it all depends on the motor also (Kv's)

My official entry into the CSFPV contest. With the help of the best ground crew out there Stone Blue Airlines hit the skies and surfed on of the tallest buildings in the area.

We took all necessary precautions to make sure our flight was a success and that all measures of safety were looked at.

Our prep time took almost a half hour checking everything out.

The result a flight of a life time in my book.

Thanks to my buddy iBcrazy & VanGo for there help with this mission.
