I was thinking about doing the limbo different because the ground is so hard there. We had a damn hard time driving the PVC, even with a power drill! What if we pounded 2ft of rebar half in the ground, then fit the PVC (3/4" ID) over top, and put those pool noodles up the PVC and arc them over the top. Flite Test did something similar but without the rebar...their ground aint tough enough!

Niceeeee, I'm in. Since I'm still learning and researching from my first visit this year at the Pecan Patch event I'm more than willing to help out in any way Don and Doug from a locals perspective if you guys need some local hands on help. Earn my wings, pay my dues, get hazed type shit ;) How can I find out where and when you guys fly before then just to take it in and chill. I'd also like to still be considered when Doug goes for that Zeb group buy he was telling me about. I'd like to add a couple to my collection. That was a sweet wing. 863-206-1634. Thanks for the info you guys passed along in GA and for the effort here. I've also got a cooler that holds 100 beers. I can get another one if you guys want me to bring some beers for you as well ;) Peace.

Just an idea, but what about renting RV's. If people go halves or what not then the pricing seems fair. And, it keeps you at the event:)
I posted some information about it on the first post.

realtvnow FPV
30th June 2013, 01:17 PM
I think they only come with around 100-180 miles included. Renting from Camping World in Orlando would get you close enough to most likely not have to pay for additional mileage:)

Yeah, two persons per unit at least:)

viper522

And if someone could secure the special rate at that same hotel as last time that would be excellent.

My hooker trailer will be ready by the next CFL event, Im buying one of those inverter generators because the cheap harbor freight worked all weekend with one tank of gas and I can't complain but the engine sound was a little annoying tough.

if you move the generator inside the trailer others won't have to hear it. plus the exhaust smells great :D

crd you are going to have to hear our generators anyways so why bother?

I have a master plan to cut the fuel lines of any generator that bothers me and only have mine running :D lol J/K. I need a generator that can run my mini A/C, and I dont want a big noisy generator, I'm getting a Ryobi 2200watts inverter generator, I believe someone here already have one of those and has great reviews and its quiet. http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/203617901?productId=203617901&storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_sku=203617901&cm_mmc=shopping-_-googleads-_-pla-_-203617901&ci_gpa=pla#.UdCCCfnCZ8E

I posted some information about it on the first post.

I've been looking at RV options for the last few weeks. The vehicle rental itself isn't bad, especially since the mileage will be negligible, however the generator fee is a killer (comparatively). I'm assuming that the gen/AC will need to run nearly 24 hours a day, and the gen fees are $3.50 an hour. I'm planning on being there for setup and teardown also, so that's about 100 hours in my case. For that price, I might be better off just buying a gen and running the RV off of it via shore power.

terabyte
30th June 2013, 03:33 PM
crd stay the fook away from anything Ryobi that has an engine especially if its 2stroke.

terabyte
30th June 2013, 03:35 PM
If you are going to spend that much just spend a little more and get a Honda or Yamaha. just my opinion.
I have found that if you put the HF generator in front of your car as far away a possible from the trailer its not that bad.
I should rig up an old motorcycle muffler onto my HF genny and see how much it helps.

I guess we are going to make do with gennies then. Maybe sometime in the future there will be power available. There is a house on the property so we know there is power coming in from the gate. Probably cost $3,000-4,000 to bring it over to a pole near the flight line. I'm not saying we have that kind of dough laying around; just sounds nice:D

Dude, lights would be cool - especially those blinking in a line like you mentioned (LED of course). Can they be run on low voltage? if not then it has to be via the gennie.

Nice garage/shop:)

I have a nikon J1 that can do 400fps and 1200 fps but it only records 5 seconds on those speeds and super small resolution. But we can play with it at least to see how the slide works on a gun etc.

at the track we used to just put a tarp across one side of the canopy (where the sun was located) and clamp it to the uprights. stopped the pre-noon sun from baking you. cut 5" half-circles in the tarp to allow the breeze through and not trap too much air (like a sail). cover opposing sides for a tunnel

Attention CFL FPV enthusiasts, and our hardcore brethren that will be travelling to the meet from far flung destinations (Im looking at you, jdoyle). We have secured group rates at two nearby hotels for snoozing and showering (and please, do shower). There is a college open house going on the same weekend and some places are starting to book up, so it is advised that you make your reservations sooner rather than later.

Here are the options:

Hampton Inn (for those fancy folk that enjoy things like feather duvets and heated pools)

Hampton Inn Leesburg
9630 US Hwy 441
Leesburg, FL 34788
352.315.1053

Distance From Meet 4.5 miles

Group Rate - $89 (rate expires 9/21)
Group Code: FPV
Valid for reservations from 10/3 10/7
Note that if you book right now and pre-pay for a non-refundable reservation there are rooms available for $84.

https://secure3.hilton.com/en_US/hp/reservation/book.htm?ctyhocn=LEEFLHX

Microtel Inn & Suites (for those thriftier types that think all hotel rooms look the same with the lights off)

Microtel Inn & Suites Leesburg
9700 US 441
Leesburg, FL 34788
352.315.1234

Distance From Meet 4.6 miles

Group Rate - $55 Single Queen, $60 Double Queen, $60 Suite (rate based on availability)
Group Code: CFL FPV
Valid for reservations from 10/3 10/7
Note that you must call the hotel directly to book at this rate, it cannot be done through the website.

It looks like we have a food truck to handle the food this year. That will help a lot. I was out at the range today. Even with 3 days of very heavy down pours, it was perfectly dry. I've made arrangements to have a fresh mow the week of the meet and were planning to have some kind of runway. I don't expect we'll able to take off PZ t-28 type planes but larger wheeled planes will be fine. Anyhow.... I'm getting really psyched about the meet. It's gonna be a lot of fun.

Damn, I have been having the same problem since the server has been back up. I've tried two different computers and three different browsers with the same results. I finally get the image uploaded and it only shows up as a link to click on, not the actual image visible in the thread:(

No seriously, for all of you who might be reading this. I just want to build planes with all of this stuff. I guess as much as I have said I hate building planes, maybe i really really like building. I'm not sure about that part of my personality, I'm still trying to hold him down. Regardless, we have all of this stuff. I am announcing this here. I will have a bad ass night rig. I hope some of you build night rigs to challenge me. Do what you will. I think we will do a contest for the baddest night rig. Now, a night rig is not just something that looks good in the sky. A night rig is something that you can launch and take nice shot of all the landscape surrounding the area. It must have lights and it must have a camera that can see my flashing lights and get home. No AP is required but you must fly it fpv. THe farthest FPV night flight will get a Dragonlink tx and rx.

Guess what's going to be added to the prize pool? Hint: it starts with Z, goes faster than any speed limit would allow, and is loved by FPV'ers the world over.

No, it's not me, but good guess...

gents - since I pre-registered for the super 3-day mega funtime bundle package deal, do I have to be present if I get picked in any of the drawings? We decided to go away for a week after the event so I'll probably only be there on Sat or Sun, but not likely both days.

skrider
10th September 2013, 03:20 PM
No, you need not be present to win. We realize that not everyone will be there all weekend, or some may come late or leave early.

If you skip a day of course it will prevent you from competing in the contests that day and winning the associated prize, but it won't hurt your chances in the drawing. With your six entries there your odds are pretty good.

PS - if you have a choice, Saturday day and night will likely be the best times to be there.
