1845318448184471844618445Heres a vid from the lake run to this small mountain a ways back off the road
the los blockage is complete for the entire trip especially behind the mountain

by extending the length of the antenna for 72 rc control at a rate of double the factory length of 40.25in the rc range has been extended so far I haven't found the limit yet. 900mhz does well in blockages any way, but the bulky yagi and patched raised up, not off the ground, will pick up the radiations coming off the side of the mountain well enough to maintain full control. you know that pan cameras will stutter when signal cuts out...firm hold for the trip

next visit will go even further out to another small mountain now that this test was passed

at the end of the vid is a 60 mph run being gauged by a car. it was early in the morning in distant new mexico nobody was out as you can see.

thanks for the info on the tire/wheel combo.

Also, did you go ~60mph with that 80" antenna mast? if so, wow!
where did you get that antenna mast from? I may extend my Futaba 72mhz Rx antenna to 80".

18454No that speed run was a year ago with heavier gear...i bet its faster now
Speed run was 40in antenna inside guide tubes
Half a fishing pole was the vtx mast back then lol

Now both antennas flex in a roll

The big whip is a big functional Jerry rig

Plastic servo guide tubes taped side by side
Its wobbly in the wind but still works
Main benefit is no damage in high speed rolls though, either antenna

There is a 2.4 ghz walkie strapped to the top as my main negotiation tool to not steal the truck lol

I've twice had rednecks pull over a pickup truck to get out and come after it

They can't beat o-60 in 5 seconds though in said pickup :)

Dang! That means I got lucky and might not can replace any of mine very well, one has a tear in the sidewall I wanted a spare

Guess it was just a limited thing they had then, bought in about 2010

Good work in getting behind the mountain. I've also found that the lower the frequency and getting your antenas up as high as possible helps a lot with this.
Next challenge - do the 60mph run via fpv - Now that would be scary!

I would weave off the road probably need a higher up cam

We did do some trailing fpv but slower because at the height of the cam, 30 mph is about tops cuz the road looks infinitely wide and as you slowly drift over the side of the road surprises you and you go shooting off into the ditch lol
