    Backpackable zephyr

My dream is to fly here, trappy style:

Problem is, it is an 8 hour hike. What can I build to backpack in?
    Tractors are where it's at.

I was thinking about that. My wife just gave me my swift and it is huge. I was thinking about building a latch system where I could slide a CF rod in both sides then latch it together. It would be really easy, people do it to latch their actual wings to their planes all the time. I'm lazy and hav eno patients so I am just building it normal but when I am not so drunk I will search out the links to the latches.

    Cheers!

FPVmanuals has a manual on how to build a folding Ritewing Zephyr:

I like the idea of foldable, but that build is too big. I'm thinking about something that is cut in 3 parts. Would something that splits into three parts still be strong enough for power dives and carry a gopro?

fmkit on RCG built quite a few foldable/backpackable wings.

I'd get a ZephX 48" version, you need to make it light, put the gopro in "Beauregard"-style. the rest of the complication is going to be how to make the electronics connectors. I'd put all the FPV gear on one side, all the R/C gear on the other side, and then have 1 or 2 connectors in the middle. Also try to get in touch with klique, he can help you out as to what kind of material you need to make it foldable.

PS: I'm assuming you have already made up your mind about a foldable Zephyr. I have mine fully built up and I usually tape or tie it to the back of my packpack ... works pretty well too, so you don't REALLY need to split it. Just food for thought.

If I was building a transportable rig like so - I definitely wouldn't want to dive with it unless out of neccessity. Especially not power-diving.
