^^ I'd try making sure that you have the latest firmware uploaded to the tracker and the OSD. Of the issues that I have seen w/ the tracker (very few) - yours seems the LEAST likely to be a setup issue.

Tell me sentry - what setup issue would explain bad tracking in only one direction, reproducibly?
^^ in your case, since you aren't able to see if the GPS has drifted on the ground (due to using a separate OSD), I'd DEFINITELY reset your plane as the last action before launch. I think your tracker will track just fine after that.
1) turn on tracker
2) quick cal (at least twice) - if it locks to 2 different "north" readings, continue to do quick cals until it locks to the same place repeatedly. If it never really chooses the same location, I'd suspect that there is some magnetic interfence (or electromagnetic interfence) in your install.
3) power up plane 20 feet out
4) get back to tripod and setup goggles - recording - pre-flight
5) when tracker points at plane (or you hear the servos moving), then home is set.
6) bring plane back to you to tripod - reset power
(tracker should now default back to North)
7) when you hear the servos the second time - throw the plane - my guess is that it'll track perfectly

Hey Sentry - thanks for the suggestions man. Got a chance to try it out tonight in a big school field. Used the single receiver- did the cal several times, it was dead on pointing exactly the same way every time.
If I power up the plane at 20 feet from the tracker my tracker just stays pointing the antenna straight up. But I did as you wrote, then went back to the base of the tripod and re-set home. Then tossed the plane and flew LOS. It tracked me as long as I was east of the tracker, but was completely off as soon as I was west of the tracker, same as before.
I also tried setting home 20 feet out and flying like that. Tracking was way off anywhere west of the home position.
I'm not using the current sensor for the skylark OSD - do you think that could be a problem? (like maybe it is using current draw to decide to go into 'ONFLY' mode or whatever?)
Argh!! (Hey - thanks again though)
Hey Skylark - did you see the pics? What are your thoughts?? Thanks.
Yeah - I think Skylark needs to address your issues - although I'd like to see a schematic --- maybe your OSD does something with the audio stream?? Can you show how it's all connected? I really want everyone to be successful with their gear. Is it connected per the schematics on page 1?

I asked about the shipping practices of SkyLark since I ordered my Trace II on March 23, received info that it left Hong Kong on April 4, and no info since. I sent an Email to SkyLark customer service on April 5 requesting some info regarding this and never received a reply. I was hoping that my question on this forum would result in an answer as to how long it normally takes for an order to SkyLark to arrive in the States.
Thanks,
-bob

Yes Sentry, except it is using its own gps, and I'm taking power and ground from the output of the transmitter instead of the dragonlink.. I may try powering the skylark OSD off of the 5V servo rail to see if that makes a difference. If anything I'd be more worried about a ground loop doing it like that though but who knows.
Still would not fit with tracking only in certain directions though but I'll try everything!
Yeah - please hook it up per the instructions on the 1st post and let's see what you got.![]()
