    rmrc-480 n camera problems

    Hello all
I just got the rmrc-480 n camera. I can see the menu (after adjusting brightness) but I don't see any picture. Either connected via ezosd with current sensor or directly into the immersionrc 600mw transmitter, I get no picture other than the menu. Please help!

    Thanks in advance,
    Profylr

The RMRC-480 camera requires 12volts. Your ImmersionRC transmitter outputs 5volts so you need a stepup filter like this: http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...roducts_id=316

Doing it through the EzOSD won't change anything because the EzOSD just passes along the voltage from the vTX (5 volts).

Wait a second, the OSD on the RMRC-480 works fine when getting 5volts?? *scratches head*

    Thanks Anixs,
Yeah, i don't get it either. I see a white screen and the menu blends with it until I turn down the brightness and contrast. After that its just a blank screen and visible camera OSD menu. When I got the camera it never mentioned anything special regarding transmitter connectivity other than the cable needed to connecte to it.

Just in case: did you take out the cover on the camera?

Sounds like your camera isn't getting enough power then. It needs 12v to run. You can use a step-up (as I linked above), or wire the camera's power to your flight battery (assuming 3s/11.1v pack). As I mentioned above, the ImmersionRC transmitters give 5v out for the camera so this won't work if you have a 12v camera like the RMRC-480. The EzOSD simply passes along that voltage, and that's why adding the EzOSD to the mix won't change anything.

    Thanks Anixs
That makes sense. I'll take a look at powering from the flight battery, but I get the feeling I will be going with the regulator. Will I have to break out the soldering iron? If so do I connect it between the camera and transmitter?

You will need to solder the step-up board inline with your camera's cable. If you aren't comfortable with this, I can make you a cable.

Thanks for the info and the cable offer! I think I may try bypassing the power to the battery. I have enough leftover connectors to possibly pull it off. Thanks for all your help!

No problem. Powering the camera from the battery is the best way to make sure everything is working fine. Just make sure the ground (negative) is shared, or you still won't get a picture.
