    Airbagit13's Multiplex Twinstar 2

I wanted a new distance plane since my sky surfer was getting a little heavy so I set up this Multiplex Twinstar 2. The DOSD was a pain in the butt to set up but thats because I was doing it backwards. I put the tail servos on the tail to help with balance and I like direct drive anyways. The GPS is embedded into the fuse just behind the wing. I added a CF rod in the antenna slot on the bottom and painted the bottom neon pink for visibility. I am very happy with how she turned out.

540lpi Cam on a Hitec HS81 Pan servo
    1280mhz 700mw TX
    DOSD w/ RTH set up
Mic on the bottom of the plane
800mah 3s lipo for the video

    Two of these motors:

    2x Power Up 20a ESCs
    4x Hitec HS85mg servos
    Castle BEC
    3500mah 3s lipo

I have my DL RX and antenna on the tail and VTX on the nose with a 1/2 wave dipole antenna. I am very excited to fly her, I will be using her to test out the RMRC 1.3ghz RX with the modified saw filter this weekend.

Why not a single battery setup?

I'm not exactly sure, something about avoiding ground loops or something or other. Anyways I always use a separate battery for video on my birds.

Sweeeet, those planes are really cool. How long will you be able to fly on 3500mah?

Not exactly sure, I need to stick a watt meter on her when I get home so that I can calculate it. I am guessing about 30-40 minutes with throttle management.

I maidened her last weekend and she flew great. I only flew her for 7 minutes and I used up like 700mah so I expect to set my return timer to 25 minutes. I will end up sticking a 5000 mah 3s lipo on it to get some more flight time out of her eventually but for now this is enough time. Unknowingly I flew her with 2 reverse rotation props but she still flew fine, I will probably keep flying her this way till my normal props come in on Friday.

I also painted the ailerons and elevator black and added velcro straps to the canopy to hold it down.

I love the twin-engine puller layout. Very efficient, safe, and you get a good clean field of view.
What kind of transmitter is that right behind the camera? Is it as heavy as it looks?
Man, you are a prolific builder Airbagit. How many builds-that-flew have you done in total?

Thanks, If you scroll down on my blog page on RCG you can see the majority of my builds. I havent updated it since my first FPV plane so you can pretty much add a ton more planes to it.

I've probably built like 50 planes (mainly foamys I admit) and only 2 or 3 haven't flown.

Its a 700mw 1280mhw TX from RMRC. It's pretty heavy but it is going to take me far. Literally. lol
