Success with tuned TBS lawmate gear

I promised you that I would test your gear on the test gear I have access to but I just haven't gotten to it yet...too much work to do.

I did the next best thing. After flying a few medium flights with the TBS tx/rx with crystal clear video I opted to see if I could get to the end of a river valley where I live.

Made it out 10.3km with one tiny glitch on the turn. There is a lot more to be had and I'm flying on VAS clover + 9.5db helical. With a lawmate ducky and a 14db patch I'd bet I can go much farther.

Thanks for the great gear it seems to be working very well

But how is the range compared to the stock SAW filter ?

depends how noisy the place is you're flying at. if it's noisy, you wiill see up to 20% range improvement. in zero noise it will not be a problem, but zero noise is never a case.

    Tuned vtx

I just ordered a TBS tuned lawmate 2.4 Vtx.

I use a 14dbi patch and a Inverted 'V' currently, Is the better all round antenna for the Vtx ?

depends on the accuracy of the Vee. The Vee is certainly a more capable antenna, the problem is that 2.4GHz already has fairly tight tolerances. If you are capable of tuning the frequency, then the Vee is your bet. Otherwise the stock lawmate Tx whips (you will get one with the Rx) will do an exceptional job.

    Thanks for the fast response.

What is a low loss cable? Is it just short? That is one of my gripes on antennas. My RX is usually inches away and the antennas come with 2ft of cable...
